Harry Hooge Elementary Mission Statement
“To create a supportive and enriching environment where all students acquire skills, knowledge and pride in their work and feelings of self-worth which fosters a desire for learning.”
Welcome to Harry Hooge Elementary for the 2019-2020 school year! We are excited to have you with us. Harry Hooge is a wonderful, vibrant school with many opportunities for students from Strong Start to grade seven.
Our Strong Start Centre is the busiest centre in SD42, welcoming learners from birth – age five. Strong Start is open Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM -11:30 AM. Parent Participation is required.
We are a growing elementary school with divisions from Kindergarten to grade seven. We offer a rich learning experience focusing on academics, fine arts, applied skills, athletics, community connections, and social responsibility. Our school goal focuses on the Social Emotional Learning of students. It is our belief that Social Emotional Skills are equally important as academic skills.
The renewed BC Curriculum has identified core competencies that we teach to throughout the grades. These include: Communication, Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Social Responsibility, Personal Awareness & Responsibility and Personal & Cultural Identity. For more information on the renewed curriculum, please go to www.curriculum.gov.bc.ca
We look forward to an exciting year of learning. We see parents as partners in learning and invite you to say hello, volunteer at the school, join our Parent Advisory Council (PAC) or contact us at any time. Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year!
