Dear Eric Langton families,
I am writing to provide you with an update on the Eric Langton Elementary replacement project.
We have been advised that site preparations will begin this upcoming Friday, May 24, 2024. As a part of this work, fencing will be erected to enclose and restrict access to the construction site. Our site map provides detailed information about the location of the school construction zone, as well as new and existing access points. Below, I have highlighted some essential information for your convenience.
Main Access Points During Construction
- Eric Langton Elementary School: Main access will be from Edge Street.
- Pedestrian Access: Pedestrian access from our school to 122nd Avenue will be maintained.
- Construction Site: Construction vehicles will access the site from 227th Street.
- Environmental School (ES) at James Best Centre: ES families will be able to access the centre from 227th Street or any of the three other access points (Edge Street and 122nd Avenue).
Recess and Lunch
We will stagger our recess and lunch so that half of the students go out each time. We have a mix of ages and programs, so we will still have lunch monitors. Adult supervisors will continue to oversee students both outside and inside during these breaks. Tomorrow, we’ll share the plan with students and inform them which other classes will join them for breaks. We will remind students about the plan again on Friday and moving forward.
The revised schedules are below:
- Recess: First group 10:05 – 10:20 am; second group 10:20 – 10:35 am
- Lunch: Lunch will still be from 12:00 to 12:40 pm. The first group will have lunch 12:00 – 12:20 pm, then they will go out to play; second group will play from 12:00 – 12:20 pm, then will eat 12:20 – 12:40 pm.
Pick-up/Drop-off
- Pick-up and drop-off will not be impacted at this time, although there may be an increase in traffic at varying times.
