Dear Parents:
A case of Head Lice has been identified in your child’s classroom. We ask that you conduct a thorough check of your child’s hair today and for the next week. To prevent the spread of head lice among children at school, we ask that you remind your child not to share personal items such as combs, brushes or hats.
Evidence of head lice may be as follows:
- nits found on the hair
- live or dead lice seen on the scalp
- nit shells from hatched lice or dead eggs found in the hair
If at any time, you find evidence of lice please follow either of the treatment options as described on the Fraser Health website and notify the school.
Chemical treatments, hair conditioner and lice combs are available at most drugstores. It is important that you follow the directions carefully. Early detection and appropriate treatment will significantly reduce head lice in our school.
Should you require additional information as to how to get rid of head lice, please contact the Public Health Department at (604) 476-7000 or check out their website at www.fraserhealth.ca or www.healthlinkbc.ca .
Your co-operation is very much appreciated.
