Dear Parents/Guardians,
On Thursday, September 28 at 1:00 pm, our school will be participating in our annual Terry Fox Run. Fairview students from Kindergarten to Grade 7 will be running/walking in support of Terry Fox’s dream… a world without cancer.
Our Kindergarten students will walk/run on the field inside the school grounds. Students from Gr. 1 – Gr. 7 will walk/run the usual designated route. A walking permission form must be signed for students to leave the school grounds. Please make sure this is done on the portal before the Terry Fox Run otherwise students will have to walk/run on the field.
Students will take part in the run rain or shine; therefore, please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather and is wearing comfortable runners.
From Monday, Sept 18 to Thursday, Sept 28, donations can be made in your child’s classroom. If you wish a receipt please make your donation in the form of a cheque made out to The Terry Fox Foundation (must be $10.00 or more for a receipt) and the Foundation will automatically mail you one. As well, families can donate directly online at http://www.terryfox.ca/FairviewElementaryMapleRidge
and receive a tax receipt within minutes. Let’s give it our best try for a great cause! Our goal this year is to raise $1000.
On Tuesday, September 26 at 8:45am we will have guest speaker, Kirsten Fox, Terry Fox’s niece, speak to students to help inspire and educate them about Terry Fox and his legacy.
As with any large function, volunteers are required to help make the event successful. If you can assist us from 12:30 pm to 2:00 pm on Sept 28, please email Celeste_Boyes@sd42.ca by Tuesday, Sept 26. Volunteers are asked to meet in the library at 12:30 pm on Sept 28 for a quick meeting.
Thank you in advance for your continued support. Let’s make this a wonderful day to remember.
Sincerely
Terry Fox Committee
