Parking in Front of the School
With the onset of rainy, dark weather we ask for extra care when driving around the school. We also ask for your patience with parking at the school during the morning drop off and afternoon pick up times. The parking lot has designated STAFF PARKING stalls. These spaces are reserved at ALL times for Alouette staff members – visitors are to park ONLY in stalls marked “Visitor”. Thank you for your cooperation.
Drop off and pick up time at school is often a time of traffic congestion. Some suggestions to help deal with our traffic situation at the front of the school are:
- Drivers should not park in the crosswalk along Isaac Crescent.
- No stopping or parking on the east side of Isaac Crescent in front of the school and south.
- No parking on sidewalk.
- No parking in school drive through/drop off zone.
- Use the west side of the school boundary to pick up children. (i.e., 220A St.)
If we all remember to follow these guidelines, pick up efficiency and, most importantly, the safety of our children will be improved. Please note, we have been advised by the by-law department that no vehicle shall be parked within 3 meters of a driveway, unless that vehicle is owned by the resident of that driveway. There is a substantial fine associated with this infraction. The by-law department advises that parents park further away from the school and walk to pick up their children.
Reminder
Before and After School – Please try not to drop off your child too early in the morning or pick them up too late after school. During these times there is NO SUPERVISION. In the morning, children are to remain outside until the bell rings at 8:25 a.m. At the end of the day we ask that parents have arranged for their children to either be picked up or for them to walk home on their own as soon after dismissal as possible.
If you are picking up your children after school we ask that you wait outside until the bell goes. We have had complaints from a number of classes that the hallways are becoming very noisy with visiting parents and children. The end of the day is important instructional time for teachers to ensure students have all the materials they need and students have a chance to ask any last minute questions before they leave.
