Dear Yennadon Families,<\/span><\/p>\n

Thank you for joining us last week on Meet the Teacher Night.\u00a0 It was very exciting to invite our families back into the school.\u00a0 Many thanks also to the PAC for organizing our first movie night this school year which was a huge success.\u00a0 This week will be busy with Photo Day, our Terry Fox Run, and National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. Please review the information below to ensure the week is a smooth one.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. Thanksgiving Pie Fundraiser Orders due Mon., Sept. 26<\/strong> \u2013 The Grade 6\/7s appreciate your support with this camp fundraiser. Deadline to order is Monday, September 26th<\/sup>.\u00a0 The pies are from Pita Bread Factory in Burnaby.<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. Pizza Hot Lunch Orders due Tues., Sept. 27<\/strong> – Deadline to order pizza hot lunch is Tuesday, September 27th<\/sup> on<\/span>\u00a0Munch-a-Lunch<\/a>. A $5 meal combo includes a slice of pizza, chips, and a juice box ($2 for an extra slice of pizza).<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. Individual Student Photo Day, Wed., Sept. 28<\/strong> \u2013 Individual student photographs for each child are scheduled for Wednesday, September 28th<\/sup>.<\/strong> Mountain West Studios program offers paper-free, online photo viewing and ordering that is fully customizable.\u00a0 On photo day, the students will receive a camera card with QR code access to the digital images on the<\/span>\u00a0mountainwest.ca<\/a> website.\u00a0 Once the photos are uploaded, you will be able to go online to view and order your child\u2019s photos.\u00a0 If your child is absent on photo day, then Photo Retakes are in the morning on Wednesday, October 19th<\/sup><\/strong>.<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. Terry Fox Run, Thurs<\/strong>., Sept. 29<\/strong> \u2013 This year, our Terry Fox event takes place on Thursday, September 29th<\/sup><\/strong>. Pledge sheets have been sent home with students.\u00a0 Tax receipts for donations of $20 or more will be issued from the Terry Fox Foundation.\u00a0 We are encouraging Yennadon students to bring in a Toonie for Terry as a donation towards cancer research<\/strong>. \u00a0Yennadon Donation Link:<\/span> https:\/\/schools.terryfox.ca\/YennadonElementary<\/a><\/li>\n
  5. National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, Fri<\/strong>., Sept. 30<\/strong> \u2013 Schools are closed on Friday, September 30th<\/sup>. The Government of Canada designated September 30th<\/sup> a statutory holiday named National Day for Truth and Reconciliation in recognition of the lasting harm residential schools have had on Indigenous communities. We ask students, staff, and families to use this opportunity to reflect on the profound injustice of residential schools and ensure that the intergenerational trauma suffered by First Nations, M\u00e9tis, and Inuit families is not forgotten.\u00a0 To show our support, we invite all staff and students to <\/strong>wear orange<\/strong><\/span> this week<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. Non-Instructional Day, Mon., Oct. 3<\/strong> \u2013 There is no school for students on Monday, October 3rd<\/sup> due to a non-instructional day. Please mark your calendars.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. Parent Portal Consent Forms <\/strong>\u2013 Please ensure that you have completed the\u00a02022\/2023 SD42 Consent Forms on the portal. \u00a0There are several important permission forms to complete, such as Appropriate Use and Use of Digital Tools (technology\/internet), Personal Information Consent, Outside Media Release, School Photography, Yearbook Consent, and Walking Field Trip Permission. Please read through each form in order to give permission or not provide permission for each child in your family at Yennadon Elementary.\u00a0 The Student Emergency Release Form was recently added<\/strong>, so please check that you have completed all the necessary information.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
