Our full day kindergarten program offers young children meaningful learning opportunities in a play based\/hands on environment.\u00a0 For many children, kindergarten is the first step in transitioning from small preschool\/daycare settings or home environments to a formal school setting.\u00a0 In order to help children in this transition, we offer and support a gradual entry process, which includes smaller groups, an increasingly longer day and an opportunity for you and your child to meet individually with your child\u2019s teacher.\u00a0 We have found that this proactive approach to school entry provides a safe, comfortable, and stress free start to your child\u2019s school career.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">The gradual entry process that your child\u2019s school will be using will be the following:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Tuesday, September 5<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 There is <u>no school<\/u> for new Kindergarten students. You will be contacted regarding a specific scheduled appointment if necessary.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Wednesday, September 6<sup>th<\/sup> to Friday, September 8<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Children will attend in small groups (approximately 10 students) for \u00bd a day, either in the morning or afternoon.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Monday, September 11<sup>th<\/sup> to Tuesday, September 12<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 You and your child will be provided with an opportunity to meet individually with your child\u2019s teacher.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Wednesday, September 13<sup>th<\/sup> to Friday, September 15<sup>th<\/sup> \u2013 Children attend in their class group from 8:30 -1:30 pm.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Regular hours begin on Monday, September 18<sup>th<\/sup>, 8:30 \u2013 2:20 pm.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Since implementing full day kindergarten, this gradual entry process has proven to be successful and highly beneficial.\u00a0 It promotes a safe and healthy start to full time attendance and allows children to gradually understand routines, make friends, connect with their teacher, and feel comfortable at school.\u00a0 It also provides parents with comfort and reassurance that their child\u2019s adjustment needs have been well considered.\u00a0 If you believe your child requires a longer period to transition to a full day kindergarten program please discuss this with your child\u2019s teacher\/principal so that school staff can collaboratively plan with you to ensure your child is successful.<\/span><\/p>\n<div>\n<div><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span lang=\"EN-US\">Your child is either in the AM (Morning) or PM (Afternoon) Group. \u00a0Please refer to your Parent Portal message for your child\u2019s group and <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress1.blob.core.windows.net\/yennadon\/2023\/07\/Kindergarten-Schedule-Web-2023.pdf\">see the attached letter and calendar for more details<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">We are looking forward to having your child as part of our Yennadon family.\u00a0 See you in September!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>We are very pleased to welcome your child to kindergarten in School District 42.
