May 8th Update to Families

Dear Yennadon Families,

This week we celebrate National Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week.  A huge thank you to our hard working and dedicated staff at Yennadon!  A reminder there is no school for students on Wednesday due to a district non-instructional day.  Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week. 

1. Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week! May 8^th – 12^th
2. African Bracelet Sales, May 8^th to 12^th – This week, the leadership team is selling African bracelets just in time for Mother’s Day. Bracelets will be on sale at lunch for $10 each and proceeds go to support our ‘adopted’ family in Zimbabwe to help pay for them go to school.
3. Current Kindergarten Student Early Dismissal, Tues., May 9 at 11:00 am – A reminder that all current kindergarten students are dismissed at 11:00 am today.
4. New Kindergarten Student and Parent Ready Set Kindergarten, Tues., May 9 from 12:00 – 1:00pm and 1:15 – 2:15pm (two groups) – Please come and have some fun at this mandatory classroom visitfor one parent and your child. Only one important adult such as mom, dad, auntie or grandpa must attend with each child.  You will meet the current Kindergarten teachers, play some games, listen to a story, and we will take your child’s picture too.  Please meet in the Annex Gym for registration.  Please remember to bring your completed “Getting Acquainted” form if you have not emailed the completed form already.
5. District Non-Instructional Day, Wed., May 10 – A reminder there is no school for students on Wednesday, May 10^th due to a non-instructional day.
6. PAC Paint Night Fundraiser, Wed., May 10 from 7:00 to 9:00pm – This event takes place at The Well. Space is limited. Tickets cost $45 and are available on Munch-a-Lunch.
7. Spirit Day – Pod Colour Day! Fri., May 12 – The leadership team invites students to wear colours according to their pod. A-Pod: red, B-Pod: green, C-Pod: yellow, D-Pod: purple, E-Pod: pink, F-Pod: blue, Annex and Portables: orange.
8. Registration for Summer Learning, until May 9 – Parents can register for elementary and/or secondary summer learning through the parent portal until 3pm on May 9^th. For more information, please review the flyer at https://www.sd42.ca/assets/media/Summer-Learning-Options-2023.pdf .
9. Mother’s Day, Sun., May 14 – Every mother is amazing! Happy Mother’s Day to all the moms everywhere!
