March 6th Update to Families

March 5, 2023 By Lisa Lawrance

Dear Yennadon Families,

Congratulations to our Competitive Boys and Girls Basketball teams for both making it to the district playoffs!  They both play semi-final games after school on Monday, the boys at Yennadon and the girls at Laity View.  Depending on their Monday results, the boys finals are on Wednesday and the girls finals are on Thursday, both at MRSS.  A huge thank you to our coaches and parents for supporting your children while driving them to practices and games.  Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week and spring break.  Enjoy your break and we will see you back at school on Monday,March 27th!

  1. Book Swap Donations, Extended to Tues., Mar. 7 – Students may bring in books for donation until this Tuesday. When each class visits the Swap on Wednesday, each student may choose out as many gently used books as they donated.  Students may bring in a maximum of ten books to swap.  Please refer to the previous parent portal message for details about criteria for donating books to the Swap.
  2. Third Annual Book Swap, Wed., Mar. 8 – On Wednesday, March 8th classes will visit the Swap so that each student may choose out as many gently used books as they donated.
  3. Lost and Found – Our Lost and Found is overflowing. We will display items in the main school hallway again this week.  Please encourage your children to take a look for items that may belong to them.  We plan to pack up everything at the end of the day on Friday, March 10th to donate to charity.
  4. Third Annual Book Swap, Wed., Mar. 8 – On Wednesday, March 8th classes will visit the Swap so that each student may choose out as many gently used books as they donated.
  5. ArtCard Fundraiser Order Deadline Extended, Wed., Mar. 8 – The order deadline has been extended! Place your orders online by Wed., Mar. 8th following the instructions on the ArtCard.  Return all artwork to your child’s classroom teacher by Thurs., Mar. 9th.  All orders are being collected on Fri., Mar. 10th and delivered to the studio for production.
  6. Spirit Day: Pajama Day, Fri., Mar. 10 – The Leadership Team invites you to participate in a pajama spirit day. This is also the last day of school before Spring Break.
  7. Spring Break, March 13th to 24th – We hope you have a restful and enjoyable spring break!
  8. Deadline to Order Hot Dog Hot Lunch (for Mar. 30th), Thurs., Mar. 23 – A reminder that hot lunch meals must be pre-ordered online at Munch-a-Lunch.
  9. School Reopens, Mon., Mar. 27 – Welcome back! School reopens after Spring Break!
  10. Spirit Day: Throwback Thursday, Thurs., Mar. 30 – The Leadership Team invites you to participate in a spirit day wearing clothes from any previous decade.
  11. Student Learning Surveys – This year, parents do not need a logon code to access the online Student Learning Survey. Electronic surveying is available until April 28, 2023.  The website to access the electronic survey is:  http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/sat_survey/access.htm.  We request you please take 15 minutes of your time to fill this out.  The more parents who complete these surveys, the higher quality of feedback we will receive.  Your input is appreciated.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Lawrance
