Wow! Last week was short but a very full and exciting first week back. Our teachers are busy planning upcoming field trips and presenters. Be sure to check your emails regularly if you can help volunteering in any capacity. Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week.
- Kindergarten Sibling Registration, January 4 to 10 – Any sibling who turns 5 years old in 2023 (born in 2018) is eligible to register for the 2023/24 school year at Yennadon.
- Student Voice Coins for Kids Drive, January 9 to 13 – Our leadership team is hosting a post-Christmas coin-a-day drive this week. All proceeds go to the Maple Ridge Christmas Hamper Society.

- Wednesday – quarters
- Thursday – loonies
- Friday – toonies
- Environmental School Kindergarten Registration, January 11 to 13 – Kindergarten registration is available for this program of choice.
- January School Assembly, Wed., Jan. 11 – Our next school assembly is this Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. in the gym for PRIMARY students.
- Wheelhouse Program Online Information Night, Jan. 12 and 24 at 6:30 pm – This program of choice located at Alouette Elementary is a classroom where Grade 6 and 7 students are both challenged and supported in becoming life-long learners and responsible citizens. Students who are currently in Grade 5 are eligible for Sept. 2023. Preregistration is required for the virtual information sessions.
- Black Excellence Day – Fri., Jan. 13 – As a lead up to Black History Month, Black Excellence Day is a day to rejoice black history and learn about black stories, black art and black people, and a day to stand in solidarity by wearing black. This Friday is Black Excellence Day, and we invite you and our students to participate by wearing black on that day.
- Deadline to Order Pizza Hot Lunch (for Jan. 27th), Tue., Jan. 17 – A reminder that hot lunch meals must be pre-ordered online at Munch-a-Lunch.
- Late French Immersion Program Online Information Night, Wed., Jan. 18 at 7:00 pm – This program of choice located at Golden Ears Elementary is for Grade 6 and 7 students who want to learn a second language or are looking for a challenge. Students who are currently in Grade 5 are eligible for Sept. 2023. Preregistration is required for the virtual information session.
- Yennadon Grade 6/7 Basketball Teams’ Practices – Basketball is now underway in our district. A huge thank you to our coaches who are volunteering their time to sponsor our basketball teams. The current practice schedule is as follows:
- Mondays at 7:30am – Gr. 6/7 Girls (Coach, Mrs. Sinow)
- Tuesdays at 7:30am – Gr. 6/7 Boys Competitive (Coach, Mr. Miller)
- Thursdays at 7:30am – Gr. 6/7 Boys Recreational (Coach, Mrs. Kocurek)
