January 3rd Update to Families

Dear Yennadon Families,

Happy New Year!  Thank you to all our families for your generous donations shared over the last two weeks of December.  We have an amazingly kind and caring school community.  From your contributions at our Christmas Concerts, we donated many boxes of non-perishable food items and $1645.45 to the Friends in Need Food Bank!  Wow!  Way to go, Yennadon!  Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week.

  1. New Year’s Holiday, Mon., Jan 2 – A reminder school is not in session on Monday, January 2nd due to New Year’s holiday.
  2. School Reopens, Tues., Jan. 3 – Welcome back! School reopens after Winter Break!
  3. Kindergarten Sibling Registration, January 4 to 10 – Any sibling who turns 5 years old in 2023 (born in 2018) is eligible to register for the 2023/24 school year at Yennadon.
  4. Kindergarten Dental Screening, Fri., Jan. 6 – All kindergarten students take part in a dental health program at the school. This is done by Fraser Health public health dental staff as part of a province-wide screening program.
  5. Student Voice Coins for Kids Drive, January 9th to 13th – Our leadership team is hosting a post-Christmas coin-a-day drive the second week of January. All proceeds go to the Maple Ridge Christmas Hamper Society. 
  6. Environmental School Kindergarten Registration, January 11 to 13 – Kindergarten registration is available for this program of choice.
  7. Wheelhouse Program Online Information Night, January 12 and 24 at 6:30 pm – This program of choice located at Alouette Elementary is a classroom where Grade 6 and 7 students are both challenged and supported in becoming life-long learners and responsible citizens. Students who are currently in Grade 5 are eligible for Sept. 2023.  Preregistration is required for the virtual information sessions. 
  8. Late French Immersion Program Online Information Night, January 18 at 7:00 pm – This program of choice located at Golden Ears Elementary is for Grade 6 and 7 students who want to learn a second language or are looking for a challenge. Students who are currently in Grade 5 are eligible for Sept. 2023.  Preregistration is required for the virtual information session.
