January 23rd Update to Families

Grade 8 registration opens on the parent portal on February 2nd.  There is a DPAC virtual information session this Thursday for parents of Grade 7 students going into Grade 8 next year.  The virtual session is limited; however, the presentation will also be broadcast live and saved on the DPAC YouTube channel for all to view.  A reminder there is no school for students on Monday due to a district non-instructional day.  Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week.

  1. Non-Instructional Day, Mon., Jan. 23 – A reminder there is no school for students on Monday due to a non-instructional day.
  2. Kindergarten Choice Registration, January 18 to 23 – Kindergarten registration is available for unique kindergarten programs in our district, such as French Immersion and Montessori.
  3. Wheelhouse Program Online Information Night, Tues., Jan. 24 at 6:30 pm – This program of choice located at Alouette Elementary is a classroom where Grade 6 and 7 students are both challenged and supported in becoming life-long learners and responsible citizens. Students who are currently in Grade 5 are eligible for Sept. 2023.  Preregistration is required for the virtual information session.
  4. Learning Services Online Grade 7 to 8 Parent Information Night, Tues., Jan. 24 at 7:00 pm – Learning Services is hosting a virtual information session for parents/guardians of grade 7 students with diverse support needs (Ministry Designations and/or IEPs) going into high school next year. Preregistration is required for the virtual information session.
  5. Spirit Day: Colour Day, Wed., Jan. 25 – The Leadership Team invites you to participate in a colour by grade level spirit day. (Grade 7s – black, 6s – grey, 5s – orange, 4s – blue, 3s – green, 2s – red, 1s – yellow, Ks – purple)
  6. DPAC Online Grade 7 to 8 Parent Information Night, Thurs., Jan. 26 at 7:00 pm – DPAC is hosting a virtual general information session for parents/guardians of grade 7 students going into high school next year. Preregistration is required for the virtual information session.
  7. Pizza Hot Lunch, Fri., Jan. 27 – Thank you to our PAC for organizing and offering hot lunches.
  8. Deadline to Order Pizza Hot Lunch (for Feb. 10th), Tues., Jan. 31 – A reminder that hot lunch meals must be pre-ordered online at Munch-a-Lunch.
