December 12th Update to Families

Dear Yennadon Families,

A huge thank you to all students, parents, and staff for your hard work and for your contributions to Yennadon.  On behalf of all of us at Yennadon, we want to wish our families all the best this Christmas break.We look forward to an exciting and adventurous New Year, and will see you back at school on Tuesday,January 3^rd, 2023!  Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week.

1. Extra Christmas Concert Tickets from Round 2 will be sent home with your child on Monday or Tuesday.
2. Spirit Day: Merry Monday, Mon., Dec. 12 – The Leadership Team invites you to participate in Merry Monday by wearing any holiday accessories such as hats, antlers, jingle bells, etc.
3. 1:00 pm Christmas Concert, Tues., Dec. 13 – The following classes are performing: Linde, Paton, Edge, Leblanc, Dilley, Williamson, Sinow, Holland, Francis, Jakeway, Thorburn, McIntosh, Friesen, and the Choir. The gym doors will open at 12:30pm for seating.  Please do not park in the VIP parking spot at the front of the school and remember to bring your tickets for admission to our concert!

In lieu of charging for tickets, we are asking for donations of either cash or non-perishable food itemsat our concert performances.  All donations will be delivered to the Friends in Need Food Bank in Maple Ridge.

6:00 pm Christmas Concert, Tues., Dec. 13 – The following classes are performing: Linde, Paton, Edge, Leblanc, Dilley, Williamson, Sinow, Holland, Francis, Jakeway, Thorburn, McIntosh, Friesen, and the Choir.  The school front doors will open at 5:15pm.  The gym doors will open at 5:30pm for seating.  Classroom doors will open at 5:45pm for students; therefore, students must remain with their parents until their teacher arrives and opens the classroom.  Please do not park in the west side staff parking lot or the VIP parking spot at the front of the school and remember to bring your tickets for admission to our concert!

* Ms. Edge’s students meet in C-Pod, Room 1077 (Kossaber-Graham’s classroom)

* Mrs. Dilley’s students meet in F-Pod, Room 1130 (Francis’ classroom)

* Choir meet in the Music Room as per Mrs. Escueta’s email instructions

5. Grade 6 and 7 Purdy’s Chocolate Bar Fundraiser, Dec. 13^th and 14^th – A reminder that our Gr. 6 and 7 students are selling Purdy’s chocolate bars to raise money for camp. Chocolate bars cost $3 each and are on sale at all four Christmas concerts.  Cash only please. 
6. Spirit Day: Ugly Sweater/Christmas/Winter Shirt Day, Wed., Dec. 14 – The Leadership Team invites you to participate in an ugly sweater/Christmas/winter shirt spirit day.  
7. Spirit Day: Pajama Day, Fri., Dec. 16 – The Leadership Team invites you to participate in a pajama spirit day. This is also the last day of school before Winter Break.
8. Pizza Hot Lunch, Fri., Dec. 16 – Thank you to our PAC for organizing and offering hot lunches.
9. Winter Break, Dec. 19^th – Jan. 2^nd – Merry Christmas and Happy New Year from the staff at Yennadon Elementary!
10. New Year’s Holiday, Mon., Jan 2 – A reminder school is not in session on Monday, January 2^nd due to New Year’s holiday.
11. School Reopens, Tues., Jan. 3 – Welcome back! School reopens after Winter Break! 
12. Kindergarten Sibling Registration, January 4 – 10 – Any child who turns 5 years old in 2023 (born in 2018) is eligible to register for the 2023/24 school year.
