April 3rd Update to Families

Dear Yennadon Families,

Welcome April!  It is hard to believe we are already heading into the last three months of the school year. Our intermediate students are beginning to practice for track and field, as such this week the roundabout is closed on Monday from 12:50 – 1:50pm and on Tuesday from 12:30 – 1:30pm.  Also, a reminder there is no school for students on Friday and Monday due to Good Friday and Easter Monday holidays.  We wish you an enjoyable long weekend.  Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week.

1. Yennadon Spring Cross Country Training for students in kindergarten to grade 7 is beginning this Monday. A reminder that all primary students must have a parent/guardian accompany them every time they walk/run the circuit on our field.  Cross country training participants meet Mrs. Sinow on Mondays and Wednesdays at 2:30 pm on the basketball court near the playgrounds.  If your child is interested, please complete the permission form on parent portal. 
2. Kindergarten, Grades 1 and 2 Sock-Hop for Syria/Turkey, Mon., Apr. 3 – Please send $1 with students who want to participate.
3. Roundabout Closed for Track & Field, Mon., Apr. 3 from 12:20 – 1:50pm
4. Grades 3 and 4 Sock-Hop for Syria/Turkey, Tues., Apr. 4 – Please send $1 with students who want to participate.

6. April School Assembly, Wed., Apr. 5 – Our next school assembly is this Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. in the gym for INTERMEDIATE students.
7. TCBY (frozen yogurt) Hot Lunch, Wed., Apr. 5 – Thank you to our PAC for organizing and offering hot lunches.
8. Deadline to Order Pizza Hot Lunch (for Apr. 10^th), Wed., Apr. 5 – A reminder that hot lunch meals must be pre-ordered online at Munch-a-Lunch.
9. Grades 5, 6, and 7 Sock-Hop for Syria/Turkey, Thurs., Apr. 6 – Please send $1 with students who want to participate.
10. Good Friday Holiday, Fri., Apr. 7 – A reminder school is not in session on Friday, April 7^th due to Good Friday holiday.
11. Deadline to Order Subway Hot Lunch (for Apr. 19^th), Fri., Apr. 7 – A reminder that hot lunch meals must be pre-ordered online at Munch-a-Lunch.
12. Easter Monday Holiday, Mon., Apr. 10 – A reminder school is not in session on Monday, April 10^th due to Easter Monday holiday.
13. Kindergarten to Grade 7 Hip Hop Dance Program – We are excited to offer our students an opportunity to participate in a schoolwide Hip Hop Dance Program which runs for two weeks in April. Please submit payment for the hip hop fee (form will be available on the parent portal tomorrow) by April 21^st.  Parents are invited to attend a show to watch their children perform on April 25^th.  More information regarding performance times for each class to follow.
14. Student Learning Surveys – This year, parents of Grade 4 and 7 students do not need a logon code to access the online Student Learning Survey. Electronic surveying is available to parents of Grade and 7 students until April 29, 2023.  The website to access the electronic survey is:  http://www.bced.gov.bc.ca/sat_survey/access.htm.  We request you please take 15 minutes of your time to fill this out.  The more parents who complete these surveys, the higher quality of feedback we will receive.  Your input is appreciated.
