Despite the short week, students and staff were kept very busy with Grade 8 Day, our Indigenous Games, the Primary Cross-Country meet, and the Westview Soccer Academy!<\/p>\n

REMINDER – EMERGENCY RELEASE DRILL \u2013 May 28th<\/sup> 1:30 pm <\/strong><\/p>\n

Wednesday, May 28th<\/sup> at 1:30 pm, the staff and students of Ecole Maple Ridge Elementary will participate in an important Earthquake Emergency Student Release \/ Reunification Drill.<\/p>\n

Please note we will not be permitting entry via the golf course gates or the west side of the building. All adults picking up must enter through the east side of the school and remain at the muster point until given the go-ahead to line up at their child\u2019s division to pick up. Staff parking lots will be closed.\u00a0 We encourage you to park within a short walk to the school.<\/p>\n

Practicing this drill will allow us to assess an important part of our school\u2019s emergency preparedness plan.\u00a0 We appreciate everyone\u2019s patience throughout the process.<\/p>\n

CLASS PLACEMENTS FOR SEPTEMBER 2025<\/strong><\/p>\n

We will soon be beginning to create preliminary class lists for next year.\u00a0Please be assured that staff devote considerable time, care, and attention to this process.\u00a0This very complex and lengthy responsibility occurs over several weeks and continues into September when class placements are finalized.<\/p>\n

Throughout the year, there have been many opportunities for parents and teachers to observe, discuss, and get to know the students. Staff work together to consider social-emotional skills and relationships,\u00a0as well as\u00a0learning styles, strengths and needs as placements are made.\u00a0Our goal is to create safe, engaging, and inclusive classrooms that balance these factors as equitably as possible.<\/p>\n

If you feel there is further information to consider about your child, you may submit input to the principal (chelsea_lendvoy@sd42.ca) by email before May 30th, 2025.\u00a0Please refrain from requesting specific teachers or peers by name.<\/p>\n

The Foundry provides\u00a0mental health care, substance use services, physical and sexual health care, youth, and family peer supports, and social services\u00a0to youth aged 12-24 years of age. It provides drop-in counselling as well as various social events that your child can attend. This is a terrific way to build positive connections with others within the Maple Ridge community.<\/p>\n
