Repeating and reviewing these emergency safety skills everyday re-enforced the important message that we need to work together to be safe and prepared. Whether you celebrate Ramadan, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Christmas, Diwali, or any other holiday, I&#8217;d love to hear the music that fills your home with joy. Share your favorite songs\u2014traditional, modern, or unique to your family! I hope to include them into our Winter Concert this year!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>GRADE 7 QUEBEC TRIP FUNDRAISER<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Support our students heading to Quebec by participating in our bottle drive fundraiser! Bring your refundable bottles and cans to the school on\u00a0<strong>Saturday, November 2nd from 9:30 AM to 1:30 PM<\/strong>. Every donation helps, and all proceeds will go towards the students&#8217; trip. Thank you for your support!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>FRIENDLY REMINDERS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We recognize we have a busy community of parents and caregivers and that friendly reminders are sometimes helpful. You may find a little note on your windscreen attached to out \u2018Drive to 5\u2019 map in the morning. We would like to focus on remaining in vehicles when dropping off students in the driveway. Thank you!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>HALLOWEEN<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>As Halloween is approaching, and students are planning their costumes, please keep the following in mind:<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong>Be kind and consider the school communit<\/strong>y.\u00a0Costumes that could be offensive or perpetuate the stereotype of someone\u2019s gender identity, culture, race, religion, age, or disability must not be worn.<\/p>\n<p>&#8211;<strong>Be thoughtful and safe<\/strong>. Costumes that depict violence, alcohol or drugs are not\u00a0appropriate. Similarly, replica weapons (e.g. guns, knives, etc.) must not be brought to school.<\/p>\n<p>Many students will be wearing costumes to school on Thursday, October 31st. Health awareness includes checking regularly for any symptoms of illness (including, but not limited to,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bccdc.ca\/health-info\/diseases-conditions\/covid-19\">COVID-19 symptoms<\/a>) and staying home when sick.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ATTENDANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you know that your child is going to be late or absent from school, please let us know through either the parent portal, by calling us at 604-467-5551 or by emailing <a href=\"mailto:mre_reception@sd42.ca\">mre_reception@sd42.ca<\/a>.
