Friday, Oct. 4th<\/sup>, 2024<\/p>\n THIS WEEK<\/strong><\/p>\n This week we celebrated community in little (and not so little!) ways throughout the school. On Tuesday, the whole staff came together to talk about this year\u2019s school goals. All of our committees are up and running, from Health and Safety, to Literacy to Halloween, staff are working hard to keep our students included and connected. Little Buddy and Big Buddy classes have begun sharing time together and some fun clubs, including choir, have had their first meetings. Drop off and pick up times are full of families connecting with each other and teachers and our PAC is busy planning our first community event of the year!<\/p>\n NEXT WEEK<\/strong><\/p>\n Monday, Oct. 7th<\/sup><\/p>\n 9:25-11:45: Div. 19 Laity Pumpkin Patch<\/p>\n Tuesday, Oct. 8th<\/sup><\/p>\n Mini Assembly for Gr. 6 students with Public Health Nurse to talk about what to expect during immunizations<\/p>\n Wednesday, Oct. 9th<\/sup><\/p>\n Thursday, Oct. 10th<\/sup><\/p>\n Friday, Oct. 11th<\/sup><\/p>\n 12:00: PAC Lunch \u2013 pizza (for those who ordered)<\/p>\n <\/p>\n STUDENT PHOTOS<\/strong><\/p>\n <\/p>\n MORNING ROUTINE<\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Your student\u2019s teacher is eager to welcome them at their class\u2019s allocated outside door in the morning. This start to students\u2019 daily routine helps to build relationships and class community. Class line up and entry locations are carefully planned and help keep the front doors and hallways clear during one of our busiest times of day. We kindly request that students refrain from entering the school through the front doors until after 8:30 am<\/strong>. Thank you for your support!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n GRADE 7 LEAVING COMMITTEE<\/strong><\/p>\n There will be a Grade 7 Leaving committee meeting in the MRE library before the PAC meeting on Oct. 21st<\/sup> at 5:30 pm.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n DROP OFF <\/strong><\/p>\n The driveway at the front of the school is open in the morning for student drop off. This is the \u201ckiss n\u2019 go\u201d option. Please pull over to the right (do not exit your vehicle) and allow your student(s) to exit your vehicle. If your student needs more time to say goodbye in the morning, or you need to exit your vehicle for any reason, utilize \u201cneighbourhood parking\u201d option. Please avoid stopping to pick up your student(s) on River Rd. A photo of available local parking is attached for your convenience. Let\u2019s work together to keep our children safe.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n PICK UP <\/strong><\/p>\n The driveway at the front of the school is closed to vehicles at the end of the day to prioritize student safety, except for buses and vehicles with an accessibility decal. Please avoid stopping to pick up your student(s) on River Rd. A photo of available local parking is attached for your convenience. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring student safety.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n YOUR GREEN KITCHEN Fundraiser<\/strong><\/p>\n You can support our school by participating in our \u201cYour Green Kitchen\u201d Fundraiser beginning today.\u00a0 Your child will be coming home soon with a postcard containing a QR code that you can scan which will take you directly to the ordering site.\u00a0 Just make sure you enter Maple Ridge Elementary into the school area.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n PRO D DAY CAMP<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n SD42 COMMUNICATION<\/strong><\/p>\n The school district does not pay medical\/dental costs arising from injury sustained by a student while on school grounds or while participating in school activities.\u00a0 Such costs are the responsibility of the parent or guardian.\u00a0 If needed, parents or guardians may purchase coverage from organizations that offer student accident programs.\u00a0 Examples of such vendors include:\u00a0https:\/\/insuremykids.com\/<\/a>\u00a0or\u00a0https:\/\/www.studyinsuredstudentaccident.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n <\/p>\n HEALTH AWARENESS<\/strong><\/p>\n We are continuing to practice Health Awareness this year for everyone entering our school \u2013 this includes staff, students, and visitors. Health awareness includes checking regularly for any symptoms of illness (including, but not limited to,\u00a0COVID-19 symptoms<\/a>) and staying home when sick.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n ATTENDANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n If you know that your child is going to be late or absent from school, please let us know through either the parent portal, by calling us at 604-467-5551 or by emailing mre_reception@sd42.ca<\/a>.
