These were important interactive experiences for all our learners. Each yearbook costs $18. Respecting our neighbours and their property goes a long way in creating a harmonious and safe environment for everyone. Here are a few reminders of how we can all contribute to being respectful members of our community:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Keep shared space clean: from sidewalks to neighbours\u2019 front yards, to parks, let\u2019s make an effort to keep shared spaces clean and tidy. Dispose of your trash and pick up after your pets.<\/li>\n<li>Respect private property: it is important to respect the boundaries of private property. Please avoid going into neighbours\u2019 yards without permission and refrain from parking in front of driveways or blocking access to garages.<\/li>\n<li>Communicate with kindness: if there are any concerns or issues within the neighbourhood, communication is key. Staff work together to consider the following criteria very carefully:\u00a0\u00a0social-emotional skills and relationships,\u00a0as well as\u00a0learning styles, strengths and needs.\u00a0Our goal is to create safe and engaging inclusive classrooms that balance these factors, as equitably as possible.<\/p>\n<p>If you feel there is further information to consider about your child, you may submit input to the principal in writing by May 31, 2023. Please refrain from requesting specific teachers or peers by name. With your help we were able to raise a total of $330.50 that will be donated to Katie\u2019s Place animal shelter. Patrons just must mention MRE grad, and a portion of your purchase will be donated back to the school and used for the Grade 7 Leaving Event. Thank you!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>HEALTH AWARENESS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are continuing to practice Health Awareness this year for everyone entering our school \u2013 this includes staff, students, and visitors. Health awareness includes checking regularly for any symptoms of illness (including, but not limited to,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bccdc.ca\/health-info\/diseases-conditions\/covid-19\">COVID-19 symptoms<\/a>) and staying home when sick.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>ATTENDANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you know that your child is going to be late or absent from school, please let us know through either the parent portal, by calling us at 604-467-5551 or by emailing <a href=\"mailto:mre_reception@sd42.ca\">mre_reception@sd42.ca<\/a>. If you know your child will be absent multiple days in a row you can enter them all at once so that you do not need to update it each day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>PARENT ADVISORY COMMITTEE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0next PAC meeting is Monday, May 13<sup>th<\/sup> in the library at 7:00 pm.<\/p>\n<p>There will be a Grade 7 Leaving Event meeting at 6:00 pm in the library beforehand.\u00a0 All Grade 7 students and their parents are invited to join.<\/p>\n<p>MRE is participating in the rotary club duck race this year and will be selling tickets.\u00a0 If you are interested in purchasing please contact\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:pac.mre@gmail.com\">pac.mre@gmail.com<\/a>\u00a0for now and stay tuned for other ways to buy!<\/p>\n<p>Carnival planning is underway and we need lots of volunteers.<\/p>\n<p>Save the date, Friday, June 21st and sign up to help at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/signup.com\/\">https:\/\/signup.com\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Used Book Fair<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Back by popular demand, we will be hosting another used book fair before the end of school. These barriers can range from access to a school program, building, or school information, to the ability to receive a needed service or support. It provides drop-in counselling as well as various social events that your child can attend.
