Students from different classes shared what diversity means to them. This gave all students an opportunity to reflect on their class, school and wider communities. Finding meaningful ways to value and include everyone is an important way to demonstrate kindness, and kindness is a priority at MRE. We are grateful to the students and teachers who provided an authentic way for us all to continue this essential learning. Thank you for your support!<\/p>\n <\/p>\n GRADE 7 QUEBEC TRIP FUNDRAISER<\/strong><\/p>\n Do you like candy and popcorn? Or both? The Grade 7 French students going to Quebec will be fundraising and hosting a candy jar guessing game on Monday, February 5th<\/sup>\u00a0through Friday, February 16th<\/sup>. Students who would like to participate and submit their guesses can do so at lunch. Each guess will cost $1. The student who guesses the right amount will take home the candy on February 16th<\/sup>!<\/p>\n If you have more of a savoury tooth, the Grade 7s will be selling bagged popcorn for $2 during lunch for the next two weeks (excluding Feb 13th<\/sup>). Thank you!<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n DIVISION 6 FEBRUARY SOCK DRIVE<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Did you know that warm socks are the most needed and least donated clothing item for charities? The students in Division 6 learned about this just recently. With the wet and miserable weather upon us, many homeless people in our own community need a bit of help in staying warm and dry!<\/p>\n To lend a hand in helping them get back on their feet, Mrs. Haavisto\u2019s class has decided to organize a FEBRUARY SOCK DRIVE. Throughout the month of February, the students will be promoting and collecting donations of NEW SOCKS. While all kinds of warm and practical socks are welcome, adult men\u2019s tube\/sports socks are most needed. You can drop off your sock donations in the big box in the school\u2019s entryway starting on Monday, February 4, or have your child bring them into Mrs. Haavisto\u2019s classroom. At the end of the month, we hope to be able to bring a whole lot of socks to the Salvation Army for them to distribute in the community. Thank you in advance for your kind support!<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n VISITORS <\/strong><\/p>\n A reminder that if you are visiting the school to please come to the office and check-in. We require all visitors and volunteers to wear a \u201cvisitor pass\u201d in order to ensure the security of staff and students.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n HEALTH AWARENESS<\/strong><\/p>\n We are continuing to practice Health Awareness this year for everyone entering our school \u2013 this includes staff, students, and visitors. Health awareness includes checking regularly for any symptoms of illness (including, but not limited to,\u00a0COVID-19 symptoms<\/a>) and staying home when sick.<\/p>\n \u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n ATTENDANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n If you know that your child is going to be late or absent from school, please let us know through either the parent portal, by calling us at 604-467-5551 or by emailing mre_reception@sd42.ca<\/a>.
