Health awareness includes checking regularly for any symptoms of illness (including, but not limited to,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.bccdc.ca\/health-info\/diseases-conditions\/covid-19\">COVID-19 symptoms<\/a>) and staying home when sick.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SCHOOL SUPPLIES<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you are still needing to purchase your student\u2019s school supplies, there are various options:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Kindergarten &#8211; Grade 3<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Supplies are bulk-ordered by the classroom teacher. There is a flat fee which covers all art and school supplies for the year. This includes the cost of a planner (agenda):<\/p>\n<p>Kindergarten:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 $55.00<\/p>\n<p>Grade 1 \u2013 3:<\/p>\n<p>$50.00 (no planner) or $60.00 (planner)<\/p>\n<p>Some classes do not require planners. Please check with your student\u2019s teacher before making a payment on the portal.<\/p>\n<p>There was a message on the Parent Portal posted this week with information about paying for your student\u2019s supplies.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Grade 4-7 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Students have the option to pre-order from Creative Packs or purchase their own supplies. If you have not yet purchased your grade 4-7 child\u2019s school supplies, you may purchase items on your own. Please use the following link to access lists: <a href=\"https:\/\/elementary.sd42.ca\/mapleridge\/school-supplies\/\">https:\/\/elementary.sd42.ca\/mapleridge\/school-supplies\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Students who pre-ordered supplies in June have had their supplies delivered to their classrooms.<\/p>\n<p>Some intermediate classes will be using planners.\u00a0 The cost is $10 and you will be notified if your child needs one.<\/p>\n<p>Please contact the office to discuss financial support options.<\/p>\n<p><strong>ATTENDANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you know that your child is going to be late or absent from school, please let us know through either the parent portal, by calling us at 604-467-5551 or by emailing <a href=\"mailto:mre_reception@sd42.ca\">mre_reception@sd42.ca<\/a>. If you know your child will be absent multiple days in a row you can enter them all at once so that you do not need to update it each day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>CONSENT FORMS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>All consent forms, including the walking field trip form, are now live on the portal. Please contact Mr. Bisset about lost books.<\/p>\n<p><strong>FOUNDRY NEWS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Foundry provides\u00a0mental health care, substance use services, physical and sexual health care, youth and family peer supports, and social services\u00a0to youth aged 12-24 years of age. It provides drop-in counselling as well as various social events that your child can attend. This is a great way to build positive connections with others within the Maple Ridge community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>DID YOU KNOW?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ms. Cora is our Child Care Worker at MRE. Here is some information about what she does for our school community!<\/p>\n<p><strong>Child Care Worker\/Youth Care Worker<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Social-emotional growth is an essential component of healthy development in children. As part of this learning in schools, <strong>Maple Ridge Elementary<\/strong> provides students with an opportunity to work with our Child Care Worker (CCW) in the classroom, in small groups and\/or individually for check-in.<\/p>\n<p>CCW\u2019s provide opportunities to strengthen friendship skills; develop coping and regulation strategies; enhance effective communication; and boost self-esteem\/self-image. Care is taken to ensure support is offered at the least disruptive time for learning.<\/p>\n<p>Please reach out to Mme Lendvoy or Mme Perry should you have any questions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Healing Journey Continues Through Truth and Reconciliation<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Memorial Peace Park Maple Ridge, Sept. 30th from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm.<\/p>\n<p>The focus of this year\u2019s event is \u201cHealing Through Drumming\u201d. Activities include performances by Indigenous drum groups and performers, special guest speakers, a variety of onsite vendors, orange shirt painting, the creation of a community art project, supporting drum circles, sharing information about supports in the community and creating a safe place for those impacted by the residential school system to come together and share and witness through stories.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Fall 2023 Pitt Meadows Parks, Recreation and Culture Opportunities<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Fall Programs Are Here!<\/p>\n<p>Our fall program guide is now available online and is now available in print. PMFRC offers low-cost Parent &amp; Child Playtime in the gymnasium on Mondays and Wednesdays (10-11:45 am) and Saturdays (9-11 am) for only $1 per child.<\/p>\n<p>Value Times at the Fitness Centre<\/p>\n<p>Work out at the fitness centre during our value times. It\u2019s only $1 for youth (13-18Y) and seniors (60Y+) and $2 for adults (19-59Y). Value times are:<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday 10-11:30am, Wednesday 8:30-9:30am, Thursday 6-7am and Saturday from 3-6pm.<\/p>\n<p>Multisport 13Y+<\/p>\n<p>Drop-in for Multisport on Fridays from 3-5pm, it\u2019s only $1 for youth (13-18Y).<\/p>\n<p>Group Fitness 16Y+<\/p>\n<p>Drop-in for a Strength &amp; Stability group fitness class on Thursday mornings from 8:50-9:50am. It\u2019s only $1 for youth 16-18Y and seniors (60Y+) and $2 for adults (19-59Y).<\/p>\n<p>Youth Lounge at Pitt Meadows Family Recreation Centre!<\/p>\n<p>This safe place is for youth ages 11-18 years old. For an annual membership of $10, youth members can access the Youth lounge and enjoy activities such as billiards, foosball, table tennis, PlayStation pods, retro arcade games, Nintendo Switch and special events.
