It was fun to see many familiar faces and to welcome new members of our school community as well.\u00a0 We appreciate your patience as we finalized class placements throughout the week. HEALTH AWARENESS<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are continuing to practice Health Awareness this year for everyone entering our school \u2013 this includes staff, students, and visitors. Health awareness includes checking regularly for any symptoms of illness (including, but not limited to,\u00a0COVID-19 symptoms<\/a>) and staying home when sick.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

SCHOOL SUPPLIES<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you are still needing to purchase your student\u2019s school supplies, there are various options:<\/p>\n

Kindergarten – Grade 3<\/strong><\/p>\n

Supplies are bulk-ordered by the classroom teacher. There is a flat fee which covers all art and school supplies for the year. This includes the cost of a planner (agenda):<\/p>\n

Kindergarten:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 $55.00<\/p>\n

Grade 1 \u2013 3:<\/p>\n

$50.00 (no planner) or $60.00 (planner)<\/p>\n

Some classes do not require planners. Please check with your student\u2019s teacher before making a payment on the portal.<\/p>\n

Look out for a message from the Parent Portal early next week with information about paying for your student\u2019s supplies.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/u><\/p>\n

Grade 4-7 <\/strong><\/p>\n

Students have the option to pre-order from Creative Packs or purchase their own supplies. If you have not yet purchased your grade 4-7 child\u2019s school supplies, you may still order directly from Creative Packs at: www.creativepacks.ca,<\/a> but there will be a late fee. You may also purchase items on your own. Please use the following link to access lists: https:\/\/elementary.sd42.ca\/mapleridge\/school-supplies\/<\/a><\/p>\n

Students who pre-ordered supplies in June will have their supplies delivered to their classrooms.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

There is still time to order a Creative Pack for your student, but please be aware that the delivery time is estimated to be one week.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Some intermediate classes will be using planners.\u00a0 The cost is $10 and you will be notified if your child needs one.<\/p>\n

ATTENDANCE<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you know that your child is going to be late or absent from school, please let us know through either the parent portal, by calling us at 604-467-5551 or by emailing mre_reception@sd42.ca<\/a>. If you know your child will be absent multiple days in a row you can enter them all at once so that you do not need to update it each day.<\/p>\n

All consent forms, including the walking field trip form, are now live on the portal. Please complete these forms at your earliest convenience.<\/p>\n

There are still some library books that didn\u2019t make their way back to school before the summer break. Students will need to return them before they can sign out new books! Please contact Mr. Bisset about lost books.<\/p>\n

FOUNDRY NEWS<\/strong><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

The Foundry provides\u00a0mental health care, substance use services, physical and sexual health care, youth and family peer supports, and social services\u00a0to youth aged 12-24 years of age. It provides drop-in counselling as well as various social events that your child can attend. This is a great way to build positive connections with others within the Maple Ridge community.<\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

PAC Updates<\/strong><\/p>\n

If you are interested in learning more about the MRE PAC information and calendar events will be shared through the PAC newsletter and on the Facebook page (Maple Ridge Elementary PAC).<\/p>\n

Additionally, the PAC holds monthly meetings and all parents and guardians of students registered at MRE are encouraged to participate and attend. The first meeting is on Monday, Sept. 18th<\/sup>\u00a0at the MRE library. The budget portion begins at 6:00 pm and the regular meeting starts at 7:00 pm. We hope to see you there!\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n
