The new year is a great opportunity to revisit the goals which were set at the student led conferences prior to the break.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the goals set by students during conferences, school staff has collaboratively set goals for the year as well.\u00a0 These goals will be posted on our school website.\u00a0 Our school growth plan goals are:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creating a stronger writing culture in the school community. Our goal is to help students build and demonstrate a growth mindset and to increase confidence, excitement, stamina, resilience, and willingness to \u201cdig into\u201d their writing.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Helping students understand challenging emotions and explore ways to develop resilience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The MRE community is involved in several initiatives around these topics, for example, the well-attended weekly Student Writing Club, school wide \u201cWriting Blasts\u201d and \u201cBuddy Writing.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We are looking forward to a year or learning and growing together in 2023.\u00a0 The first week seemed to fly by!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>HEALTH AWARENESS<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In the new year we will be continuing to practice <strong>Health Awareness<\/strong> for everyone entering our school \u2013 this includes staff, students, and visitors. You can also drop off donations in the drive-through at the front of MRE from 9:30 \u2013 1:30 that day.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>USED BOOKS WANTED!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Are you looking to pass on books that no one reads anymore?\u00a0 Well, look no further! The PAC is planning the first ever USED Book Fair this Spring.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Drop off your gently used kid and adult leisure reading books in the bins by the school office.\u00a0 Please no encyclopaedias, dictionaries, or textbooks.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>More details about the sale will come closer to spring. Students who are <strong>currently in Grade 5<\/strong> are eligible to begin Late French Immersion in September 2023, at Golden Ears Elementary. Registration occurs on the parent portal.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>The Wheelhouse program runs out of Alouette Elementary (22155 Isaac Crescent, Maple Ridge).<\/p>\n<p><\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>WESTVIEW CHRISTMAS CONCERT <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>You\u2019re invited to the Westview Winter Concert on January 25<sup>th<\/sup> at 7:00 p.m. Anyone from the community is welcome to attend.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>MRE\u2019s Beginner Band students in grades 5-7 will be performing.
