STUDENT INCLUSIVE CONFERENCES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Student inclusive conferences will take place on December 8th<\/sup> and 9th<\/sup>. \u00a0These conferences are a time to celebrate your child\u2019s learning and growth and to set goals for the next portion of the school year.\u00a0 If you have not already done so, please sign up for a time slot on the parent portal.<\/p>\n

Conferences can be done in-person at the school or on Zoom \u2026it\u2019s your choice.\u00a0 Students, parents and the classroom teacher are all part of the conference.<\/p>\n

Reminder: December 8th<\/sup> will be an early dismissal day at 11:30 am and December 9th<\/sup> classes will not be in session.<\/p>\n

CHRISTMAS DONATION BINS <\/strong><\/p>\n

Our school will once again be creating food and gift hampers for families in need over the holidays. If you would like to donate a non-perishable food item or unwrapped gift, please bring it to the bins in front of the office.\u00a0 These bins are labelled \u201cChristmas Hampers\u201d. Please see the attached flyer below.<\/p>\n

\u201cMRE CELEBRATES\u201d WINTER CONCERT<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are delighted to invite families to watch a performance of the \u201cMRE Celebrates\u201d Concert.\u00a0 Families are asked to attend\u00a0one<\/em>\u00a0concert so that we stay within the fire-code limit for our gym capacity.\u00a0 Both concerts will be the same. Admission is free, but a donation to the food bank is greatly appreciated.<\/p>\n

HEALTH AWARENESS<\/strong><\/p>\n

We are continuing to practice Health Awareness this year for everyone entering our school \u2013 this includes staff, students, and visitors. Health awareness includes checking regularly for any symptoms of illness (including, but not limited to,\u00a0COVID-19 symptoms<\/a>) and staying home if ill.<\/p>\n

The Family Education and Support Center is excited to have the following courses and workshops available for this winter.<\/p>\n

Anger Monsters (8-12 years):<\/strong>\u00a0This children’s program is designed to teach children 8-12 yrs old what anger is. This program is designed to allow participants to be able to identify their triggers and learn tools to help control their anger. The parents program features skills from Neufeld Institute, including various anger cycles and goals of behavior. Participants will also learn how to help support their child’s efforts to tame their anger, along with different calming techniques. Date: Feb 4- Mar 4 (Sat) Time: 330pm-530pm Cost: $90 *price is for 1 child and 1 parent\/guardian*<\/p>\n

I Am Awesome<\/strong> (Spring Break Camp):\u00a0This course is designed to help young people with communication styles, triggers, \u201cI\u201d statements, looking at their special inner qualities, how to deal with stress and how to be a friend. We are offering two sessions. Ages 7 – 11 Ages 6-8 years Date: Mar 13 – 17 Time: 8am – 12pm Cost: $86\/child Ages 9&10 years Date: Mar 20 – 24 Time: 8am – 12pm Cost: $86\/child<\/p>\n

STEPE<\/strong>:\u00a0Developmentally appropriate parenting skills for children aged 0-6. Programming for children 0-6 is available. Date Jan 30- Feb 24 (Tues\/Fri) Time: 1-3pm Cost: FREE<\/p>\n

Parenting Resilient Children<\/strong>:\u00a0Understand better what resiliency is and how we can foster it in our families. Please note, this workshop will take place via Zoom. Date: Feb 14 (Tues) Time: 10am – 12pm Cost: $15<\/p>\n

Conflict Resolution Parenting<\/strong>:\u00a0Learn how to use “I” statements, conflict management styles, trigger scale, active listening, paraphrasing and open questions for parenting. This workshop will take place via Zoom. Date: Jan 10 (Tues) Time: 10am – 12pm Cost: $15<\/p>\n

Healthy Relationships<\/strong>:\u00a0This 2-part course looks at the fundamentals of any adult relationship including the foundation, needs, wants, and communication skills. Date: Feb 4 & Feb 11 Time: 9am-3pm Cost: $90\/per person *must register in pairs*<\/p>\n

Men\u2019s Anger Management<\/strong>:\u00a0Explores the complex nature of anger, recognizing triggers, alternative methods of expression, and how to defuse anger. Date: Jan 15- Feb 5(Sun) Time: 9am – 2pm Cost: $90<\/p>\n

Brave New You<\/strong>:\u00a0Women learn about creating and keeping their boundaries, healthy communication, managing challenging conversations, expressing feelings and identifying personal needs. Date: Feb 4- Mar 4 (Sun) * no class Family Day weekend Time: 9am – 2pm Cost: $90<\/p>\n

SANTA MALL<\/strong><\/p>\n

Ho Ho Ho here we go! Santa Mall is approaching fast with sleigh bells jingling on Thursday, December 1st\u00a0 and Friday, December 2nd. Santa Mall is by donation only with NO PRICING. This year, for the first time ever, each student can purchase up to TWO gifts!\u00a0 Please send your child with a $1-$5 donation on their Santa Mall day. If you send over this amount, no change can be given.\u00a0 Children who forget their money on the day will choose gifts at no charge.<\/p>\n

Thank you to parents, staff, and the community for your amazing donations so far… Keep ’em coming! We are still in need of more items. Please go through your closets, vanities and cupboards and hit up your neighbours, friends and colleagues. Anything that is new in box or package is absolutely wanted for Santa Mall, even kitchen items like fondue sets, salad spinners, and small appliances make great gifts. Make-up, perfume, soaps, lotions, bath bombs\/beads, hair accessories\/scarves\/purses\/gloves (all must be new) and holiday themed decor are always appreciated.<\/p>\n

We are very short on gift bags, tape, wrap, boxes, bows and gift tags. These items do not have to be perfect to be perfect for Santa Mall. Santa Mall is a chance for young people to experience the joy of giving this holiday season.<\/p>\n

And by popular demand…THE FLASH SALE!<\/strong> Parents, guardians, and staff, please join us Friday, December 2nd from 2:30-3:30 for an amazing one-dollar only sale. All students must be accompanied by an adult to attend the flash sale, no exceptions.<\/p>\n
