The choice of costume should always be respectful of the diverse cultural and lived experiences of all the members of our school communities.<\/p>\n<p>Please consider the two following guidelines when you and\/or your child are making the costume selection:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Be kind and consider the school community.<\/strong>\u00a0Costumes that could be offensive or perpetuate the stereotype of someone\u2019s gender identity, culture, race, religion, age, or disability must not be worn.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Be thoughtful and safe<\/strong>. Costumes that depict violence, alcohol or drugs are not appropriate. Similarly, replica weapons (e.g. guns, knives, etc.) must not be brought to school.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>We appreciate your consideration and thank you for helping keep our schools safe, caring, and inclusive this Halloween.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>HALLOWEEN FOOD DRIVE <\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The grade 7 leadership group is running a food drive to help people in our community. We will be collecting donations of money and non-perishable food items from October 26<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0&#8211; November 2<sup>nd<\/sup>. Leadership students will come to classes each morning to collect donations.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>All donations will be given to the Friends in Need food bank. Thank you for helping people in our community \u2013 together, we can scare hunger!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>ABORIGINAL EDUCATION FAMILY NIGHT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>There will be a fun-filled evening for students and families of the Aboriginal Education Department.\u00a0 It\u2019s hosted by SD42 Aboriginal Education Slahal and Family Connections and takes place on Thursday November 3<sup>rd<\/sup> at Westview Secondary.\u00a0 For more information, please see the flyer below<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>TERRY FOX TOTAL<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Thank you to everyone who donated to the Terry Fox run.\u00a0 Our school raised a grand total of $3520.05 \u2013 surpassing our goal by over $2000.00!
