Every mother is amazing!\u00a0 Happy Mother\u2019s Day to all the moms everywhere!\u00a0 A huge thank you to the PAC for the breakfast buffet to celebrate Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week last week.\u00a0 A reminder there is no school for students on Wednesday due to a district non-instructional day and Monday, May 19th<\/sup> due to Victoria Day statutory holiday<\/strong>.\u00a0 Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week. \u00a0\u00a0\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n

2024\/25 Yearbook Orders<\/strong> \u2013 2024\/25 Laity View Yearbooks are on sale for one more week until 16th<\/sup><\/strong>.\u00a0 Orders are placed with Photo Expressions and paid online at<\/span> https:\/\/plicbooks.ca\/go\/5XCWPG<\/strong><\/a> and cost $23 each<\/strong>.\u00a0 Congratulations to our yearbook cover contest winners: Deirdre B for the front cover and Zaiden L for the back cover.<\/span><\/p>\n

Lost and Found<\/strong> \u2013 Our Lost and Found is overflowing again.\u00a0 Please come into the school and take a look for items that may belong to your children.\u00a0 We plan to pack everything up on Friday to donate to charity.<\/span><\/p>\n

Early Dismissal Requests<\/strong> \u2013 We understand that sometimes parents need to pick up their children early from school.\u00a0 In order to facilitate this request, please notify the school via the parent portal\/email of any early dismissals, not just by emailing your child\u2019s teacher.\u00a0 Our office reception email is checked all day long and is the best way to communicate such information since classroom teachers are not easily able to check their email throughout the school day.\u00a0 Your assistance is greatly appreciated and will benefit everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n

Spring Cross Country Training<\/strong> \u2013 PRIMARY<\/strong> Cross Country practices are Tuesday and Thursday at recess at Volker Park<\/strong>.\u00a0 Students meet at Ms. Carissa\u2019s room and walk over together.\u00a0 Primary race day is May 21st<\/sup> at Albion Sports Complex Field for students in Kindergarten \u2013 Grade. 3.\u00a0 Students get a permission form by attending practice<\/u> and need a form to compete on race day.\u00a0 Any questions, please email<\/span>\u00a0Carissa_Keenan@sd42.ca<\/a>.\u00a0 INTERMEDIATE<\/strong> Cross Country practices are Monday and Wednesday at recess at Volker Park<\/strong>.\u00a0 Intermediate race day is May 15th<\/sup> at Albion Sports Complex Field for students in Grades 4 \u2013 7.\u00a0 Students can pick up a permission form from M. Tremblay.\u00a0 Any questions, please email<\/span> Joanna_Edwards@sd42.ca<\/a>.\u00a0 Parents are responsible for getting their child(ren) to and from the district races.<\/span><\/p>\n

Parent Input Regarding Student Placement for 2025-2026<\/strong> \u2013 We are beginning to create our classes for next year.\u00a0 Please be assured that staff devote considerable time, care and attention to this process.\u00a0 This very complex and lengthy responsibility occurs over several weeks and continues into September when class placements are finalized.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout the year, there have been many opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss each child.\u00a0 Staff work together to consider the following criteria very carefully:\u00a0social emotional skills and relationships, <\/strong>as well as learning styles, strengths, and needs.<\/strong>\u00a0 Our goal is to create safe and engaging inclusive classrooms that balance these factors, as equitably as possible.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

If you feel there is further<\/u> information to consider about your child, you may submit input to the principal or vice-principal <\/strong>(and\/or your child’s classroom teacher) <\/strong>in writing using this <\/strong>FORM<\/strong><\/a> or by sending an email to <\/strong><\/span>lisa_lawrance@sd42.ca<\/strong><\/a> or <\/strong>katherine_ross@sd42.ca<\/strong><\/a> by May 30th<\/sup><\/strong>.\u00a0Please refrain from requesting specific teachers or peers by name<\/strong>.\u00a0 As class placement at Laity View is a collaborative process, parent input forms are shared with all teachers for discussion.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
