Dear Laity View Families,<\/span><\/p>\n

Happy Easter! \u00a0Wishing all our families a joyful Easter, and a relaxing long weekend. \u00a0May it be filled with rest, joy, and some special treats!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

You may have noticed your children coming home last week with stories about their \u2018unusual\u2019 teachers.\u00a0 That\u2019s because our staff took part in a fun new trend sweeping through schools \u2013 Underground Spirit Week<\/strong>!\u00a0 Each day, teachers dressed up according to a secret theme, keeping it under wraps to see if students would catch on.\u00a0 It brought a lot of smiles, curiosity, and laughter throughout the school.\u00a0 The energy was contagious, and it was a great way to build community and brighten everyone’s week!<\/span><\/p>\n

Tuesday is Earth Day!\u00a0 We encourage your family to participate in an initiative to reduce your electricity, emissions, and waste footprint.\u00a0 Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week. \u00a0\u00a0\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n

Intermediate Playground Addition Update<\/strong>:\u00a0 A huge thank you to the PAC for supporting the purchase and installation of our new intermediate playground feature \u2013 the Apollo!\u00a0 Last Thursday was filled with laughter, energy, and pure joy as students climbed, spun, and explored every part of the new structure.\u00a0 It is currently so popular that we\u2019ve had to schedule different grades to play on it at recess and lunch!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

SD42 2025-2026 Proposed Preliminary Budget<\/strong>:\u00a0 At its April 16th<\/sup> public meeting, the Maple Ridge \u2013 Pitt Meadows Board of Education received the\u00a0Proposed Preliminary Budget 2025\/26\u00a0<\/em>for information.\u00a0 The board welcomes your feedback on this proposed budget.\u00a0 To provide your input through the online survey, go to<\/span>\u00a0https:\/\/www.surveymonkey.com\/r\/2025-26-budget<\/a>.\u00a0 This survey will be open from\u00a0April 17th<\/sup> until noon on April 23rd<\/sup><\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Yearbook Cover Contest<\/strong> \u2013 It is that time again for our annual Yearbook Cover Contest.\u00a0 We invite students to submit a design for the front or back of this year\u2019s Laity View yearbook.\u00a0 All submissions are due to the office by\u00a0Friday, April 25th<\/sup><\/strong>.\u00a0 See the yearbook cover contest parent portal message for the criteria.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Registration for Summer Learning, Apr. 17th<\/sup> to May 8th<\/sup> <\/strong>\u2013 Parents can register on the parent portal for English or French elementary summer learning and\/or secondary summer learning through the parent portal between noon April 17th<\/sup>and 3pm on May 8th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Kindergarten to Grade 6 English is hosted at c\u0313\u0259sq\u0259nel\u0259 Elementary and French is hosted at Laity View Elementary<\/strong> both from 9:00 am \u2013 12:20 pm and Grade 7 to 8 Transition is hosted at THSS.\u00a0 For more information about summer learning, please review the flyer at<\/span> https:\/\/www.sd42.ca\/assets\/media\/2025-02-10-Summer-Learning-Options-2025.pdf<\/a> .\u00a0 Accompanying the elementary summer learning, there are Positive Power Camps from 12:20 \u2013 2:20 pm.\u00a0 These camps offer games and activities designed to build confidence, strengthen teamwork and communication, and to learn to manage stress.\u00a0 For more information about summer learning Positive Power Camps, please review the flyer at<\/span> https:\/\/www.sd42.ca\/assets\/media\/SD42-Afternoon-Camp-2025.pdf<\/a> .<\/p>\n

Student Learning Surveys <\/strong>\u2013 If you have a student in Grade 4 or 7, parents are invited to complete a Student Learning Survey.\u00a0 This year, parents do not need a logon code to access the online Student Learning Survey.\u00a0 Electronic surveying is available until May 2nd<\/sup>.\u00a0 The website to access the electronic survey is:<\/span> www.bced.gov.bc.ca\/sat_survey\/access.htm<\/em><\/a>.\u00a0Please do not<\/u> use Safari as there is currently a glitch with this browser.\u00a0 We invite you to take 15 minutes of your time to fill this out.\u00a0 The more parents who complete these surveys, the higher quality of feedback we will receive.\u00a0 Your input is appreciated.<\/span><\/p>\n
