Dear Laity View Families,<\/span><\/p>\n

In February we continue to honour Black History Month by teaching about Black stories, Black art, and Black people as well as equality, empathy, and anti-racism.\u00a0 We are also focusing on kindness.\u00a0 This Wednesday for Pink Shirt Day, we invite everyone to wear pink shirts\/kindness counts shirts and focus on how we can be more positive and kinder to each other.\u00a0 Please review the information below for some details about the upcoming week. \u00a0\u00a0\u200b<\/span><\/p>\n

Grade 7 Quebec Exchange Trip Fundraiser<\/strong> \u2013 Help support our Grade 7 students as they fundraise for their trip to Quebec!\u00a0 Start saving your empty bottles<\/strong> now and bring them during school drop-off and pick-up on Tuesday, February 25th<\/sup><\/strong>.\u00a0 There will be a Drive-thru bottle collection at the front of Laity View Elementary.\u00a0 Need pickup? Text 604-551-5191 to arrange collection.\u00a0 Thank you for your support!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Three Way Reporting Conferences, Mar. 13 (early dismissal at 11:30am) and Mar. 14<\/strong> \u2013 Our teachers have put out a sign up for term 2 conferences on the parent portal.\u00a0 Please be sure to sign up for your desired allotted time of either online or in person conferences.\u00a0 This is an important time where your child will be showing their learning for the term and setting goals for term 3.\u00a0 As such, please try to find alternate arrangements for your other children.<\/span><\/p>\n

Grade 8 Registration<\/strong> \u2013 All Grade 8 registration for the 2025-26 school year will be done online through the Parent Portal<\/u>.\u00a0 The Grade 8 Transfer Period will open at 12:00 noon February 11th<\/sup><\/strong>.\u00a0 Deadline for completing a request for the Grade 8 Transfer Period is February 25th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Families with children currently enrolled in a Maple Ridge-Pitt Meadows School District elementary school should submit an Existing Student Transfer Request<\/em><\/strong> in the Grade 8 Transfer Period.\u00a0 Read the<\/span> Grade 8 Transfer Period Information 2025\/26<\/strong><\/a> tab on the school district website for more details.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Jump Rope for Heart<\/strong> \u2013 The Laity View Elementary leadership team is excited to present Jump Rope for Heart on Friday, February 28th.\u00a0 There are many ways to participate!\u00a0 All students will get the chance to have fun at a variety of inclusive stations on event day.\u00a0 Leading up to the event, students will be learning about different ways to take care of their hearts and brains.\u00a0 Students are also invited to help our school give back to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.\u00a0 Leadership students will be coming to classes each Friday to collect donations.\u00a0 Alternatively, you can donate through the Jump website for a chance to win cool prizes (Indigo, Amazon, or Walmart gift cards).\u00a0 Please follow this link for information:\u00a0<\/span> https:\/\/jumpropeforheart.crowdchange.ca\/89186<\/a> .\u00a0 All questions can be directed to Mme Edwards at<\/span>\u00a0joanna_edwards@sd42.ca<\/a>\u00a0.<\/p>\n
