{"id":1919,"date":"2023-08-31T23:09:15","date_gmt":"2023-09-01T06:09:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/elementary.sd42.ca\/laityview\/?p=1919"},"modified":"2023-09-04T08:40:12","modified_gmt":"2023-09-04T15:40:12","slug":"first-week-of-school-2023-wed-sept-6th-fri-sept-8th","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elementary.sd42.ca\/laityview\/first-week-of-school-2023-wed-sept-6th-fri-sept-8th\/","title":{"rendered":"First Week of School 2023 \u2013 Wed., Sept. 6th \u2013 Fri., Sept. 8th"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong><u>Wednesday, September 6<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0 \u2013 Friday, September 8<sup>th<\/sup><\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Students <strong>going into\u00a0Grades 1 through 7<\/strong> for the 2023\/2024 school year and <strong>new students<\/strong> go to the <strong>same classes and line up spots as Tuesday<\/strong>.\u00a0 It is not necessary to bring school supplies; however, <strong>remember to pack a recess snack and a lunch<\/strong>.\u00a0 Students will be dismissed to the same spot as Tuesday, unless the teacher has moved classrooms and communicated a new drop off \/ pick up spot to begin Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>New <\/strong><strong>Kindergarten students attend a scheduled intake meeting with a parent \/ guardian on Wednesday, September 6<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>.\u00a0 <u>New Kindergarten students<\/u> have received a letter of instruction via the parent portal regarding their AM\/PM groups and gradual entry schedule starting on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><em>English and French Kindergarten Gradual Entry Calendar: <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress1.blob.core.windows.net\/laityview\/2023\/08\/LVE-K-Gradual-Entry-2023.pdf\">CLICK HERE<\/a><\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For several reasons, we may not be able to organize students into \u201cfinal\u201d classes until Monday.\u00a0 Many factors make it more challenging to fine tune class composition, and we may require extra time.\u00a0 Therefore<strong>, <\/strong><strong>students going into\u00a0Grades 1 through 7 for the 2023\/2024 school year will most likely <u>return to their last year\u2019s\u00a0classroom<\/u>\u00a0for the entire week<\/strong>.\u00a0 During our first week back, if needed, grade teams will do activities and assessments with students.\u00a0 This will allow us to welcome students back, generate some good schoolspirit, and make stronger decisions about class composition.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><strong>Our regular daily schedule from 8:30am to 2:20pm begins on Wednesday, September 6<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>.\u00a0 Please do not send any school supplies until students are placed in their new classes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Welcome back to the 2023\/2024 school year at Laity View Elementary!<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Sincerely,<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mrs. L.
