\nSchools and district sites are both workplaces and places of learning. Creating and maintaining
\na safe, inclusive, and respectful environment is a shared responsibility. Parents, guardians
\nand guests play a vital role in fostering this environment through conduct that upholds dignity,
\nrespect, and respectful communication.<\/p>\n
\nParents, guardians and guests are expected to:
\n\u2022 Use respectful language in all forms of communications with staff and students.
\n\u2022 Seek to understand the circumstances underlying questions or concerns.
\n\u2022 Work collaboratively toward reasonable solutions, recognizing that perspectives may
\ndiffer.
\n\u2022 Refrain from using social media platforms to address or escalate concerns regarding
\nstudents, staff, or school\/district operations.
\n\u2022 Raise concerns in accordance with Policy 9550 Process for Raising Concerns.
\nContribute to a Positive Environment
\nParents, guardians and guests are expected to:
\n\u2022 Conduct themselves in a positive manner when visiting or engaging with a school or
\ndistrict site.
\n\u2022 Treat all members staff and students with dignity and respect.
\n\u2022 Contribute to an environment free from discrimination, harassment, bullying,
\nintimidation, or hate.<\/p>\n
\nThe district is committed to addressing conduct concerns in a fair, respectful, and progressive
\nmanner. When the behaviour of a parent, guardians or guest does not meet the expectations
\noutlined in this policy, the school or district may implement one or more progressive
\nmeasures, which may include:
\n\u2022 Requests for meetings to discuss and resolve concerns collaboratively.
\n\u2022 Verbal or written warnings outlining the behaviour of concern and expected change.
\n\u2022 Restrictions, limitations, or conditions on access to a school or district site, program,
\nor event.
\n\u2022 Involvement of district leadership where conduct presents ongoing challenges or
\nsafety risks.
\n\u2022 When a situation requires external support or may involve a criminal matter, school
\nor site staff may request assistance from the RCMP or other emergency services, as
\nappropriate.
\n\u2022 Section 177 of the School Act, which authorizes principals, district staff, or other
\ndesignated officials to direct an individual to leave and\/or prohibit them from
\nentering school property when their presence poses a significant risk to student or
\nstaff safety or interferes with the safe and orderly operation of the school.
\nWhere appropriate, schools will work with individuals to restore positive relationships and
\nensure future interactions reflect the expectations outlined in this policy.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
