The district is offering a trophy and $350 for a prize to the school who saves the most energy and promotes energy conservation over the month of February. Over a week at Kanaka Creek, we do Math Trivia Monday, Tupperware Tuesday, Water Bottle Wednesday, Don\u2019t Throw It Out Thursday, Free the Plugs Friday, and Garbage Free Fridays.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>GRADE 7 NEWS<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Thursday, February 28 \u2013 Pizza hot lunch <\/strong>(students will eat first this day rather than play first)\n<ul>\n<li>$3 for one slice, $5 for two.CASH ONLY (<strong><u>NO PRE-PAY ON LINE AS THIS IS NOT A PAC EVENT<\/u><\/strong>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Monday, March 4 \u2013 committee meeting 6:30 pm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><u><span style=\"color: #ff99cc;\">PINK<\/span> SHIRT DAY &#8211;<\/u><\/strong>takes place on February 27th, 2019.\u00a0 T-Shirts have been delivered already.\u00a0 If you\u2019ve ordered a shirt but haven\u2019t picked it up, please contact Ms. Mah at <a href=\"mailto:Kirsten_Mah@sd42.ca\">Kirsten_Mah@sd42.ca<\/a>.\u00a0 On Feb 27<sup>th<\/sup>, we\u2019ll have activities at lunch\/recess and a bake sale.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>READY, SET, LEARN <\/u><\/strong>\u2013 February 27, 5:30-7 pm at Harry Hooge Elementary.\u00a0 This is a FREE early learning program that welcomes children ages 3 and 4 to SD42 and helps them get ready for success in school.\u00a0 The program offers special activities, story-time and crafts.\u00a0 Families also receive a package that includes a children\u2019s book and a parent kit with tips for supporting a childs\u2019s learning and development.\u00a0 Registration is required at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sd42.ca\/rsl-registration\">www.sd42.ca\/rsl-registration<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>PAC EVENTS<\/u><\/strong><strong><u>:<\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Popcorn Day<\/strong>Our next popcorn day is Wednesday, March 6.\u00a0 Thank you very much to all the parents who stepped in as volunteers to ensure this event wasn\u2019t cancelled. We rely on volunteers to be able to continue with popcorn day and hot lunches.\u00a0 You can pre-pay now for our March Popcorn day and the remainder of the year&#8217;s Popcorn Days by accessing the online payment system at the bottom of this email.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Please note<\/strong>: Online pre-payment for Popcorn Day fundraisers will close 2 days prior (4pm on Monday) so that we can tally orders and ensure our teachers are notified in advance of all pre-payments. This will help the event run more smoothly.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Fundraisers<\/strong><strong>&#8211; <\/strong>Global Coffee &#8211; We are running the Global Coffee fundraiser again due to requests from our parents! Pick up will be on February 28th at the kitchen window by the school gym at 2:20pm. If you can&#8217;t make it to the school for pick up, please arrange with a friend or have your child come and pick up for you. We do not have storage at the school.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Family Glow Dance<\/strong>Tickets are now on sale for the Kanaka Creek\u2019s Family Glow Dance Date: March 1st from 6-8pm. \u00a0\u00a0Pizza, chips, water, treats and glow in the dark merchandise will be available for purchase. We have hired ACDJ to host the event! Get your song requests and dancing shoes ready! \u00a0\u00a0Tickets are 5 dollars each per person. Adults attending must purchase a ticket as we need to count heads for capacity reasons. Free tickets are available for siblings 4 and under but must be requested. <u>This is a parent participation event and children cannot be dropped off and left unattended.<\/u><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>All tickets can be purchased online at <a href=\"http:\/\/kanakacreek.parentcouncil.net\/\">http:\/\/kanakacreek.parentcouncil.net<\/a>. Dance tickets will be available at the door on the night of, but will be limited.<\/p>\n<p><strong>SPRING BREAK CAMPS<\/strong>:\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Here are some local spring break camp ideas!<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Albion FC Soccer<\/strong>Camps April 1-5 or April 8-12.
