Students who are currently in Grade 5 are eligible to begin \u00a0Late\u00a0 French \u00a0Immersion\u00a0 in September 2019 at Golden Ears Elementary School. Some benefits of this program include:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Development of independence and self-advocacy;<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Use of technology to analyze and improve critical thinking skills;<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Collaboration with peers both online and face to face;<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Flexible scheduling \u2013 individualized daily agenda;<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Use of technology to demonstrate learning.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>CyberSchool students are also part of the school district 1-to-1 program in which each student is assigned an iPad for the school year.\u00a0This option is open to all Maple Ridge \u2013 Pitt Meadows School District students who will be going into grades 6 and 7 in September 2019.<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong><u>WINTER ACTIVITIES<\/u><\/strong>\u2013 Grade 4\/5 and6\/7 winter activities have started.\u00a0 The upcoming days are:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<h4>Grade 4\/5 &#8211; Dates are January 31 and February 7, 21<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<h4>Grades 6\/7 &#8211; Dates are February 1, 8, and 22.<\/h4>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4><strong><u>KC KIDS\u2019 CHOIR NEWS &#8211;\u00a0<\/u>\u00a0 <\/strong>Our January term practices began after school on Thursday January 17<sup>th<\/sup>. \u00a0\u00a0This year we will be preparing a concert to perform at the ACT with our good friend Rick Scott!\u00a0 (The concert is scheduled for 7 pm at the ACT on Wednesday, March 13th.\u00a0 A notice will go out on the portal this week to sign up.<\/h4>\n<h4><strong><u>G<span style=\"color: #ff0000;\">LOVE<\/span> YOUR NEIGHBOUR<\/u><\/strong>&#8211; In support of the Salvation Army Ridge Meadows Ministries, here in town, Kanaka Creek Kindergarten classes will be collecting winter accessories for the homeless adults in our community.\u00a0\u00a0 Please help us make a difference and a gesture of kindness to the less fortunate of our community by donating new or gently used gloves, socks, scarves and hats (adult size).
