Classes will not be in session:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n HALLOWEEN\/CHRISTMAS CANDY BAGS<\/u><\/strong>– Thank you to the generous students and families of Kanaka.\u00a0 The school collected enough Halloween candy to make 671 bags which were donated to four local senior centres and to the Drug and Alcohol Treatment Centre of Maple Ridge.\u00a0 The remaining 290 bags were donated to the Friends in Need Foodbank.\u00a0 All of the organizations were extremely appreciative of the artwork on the bags and the generosity of our students. Thank you to the students who decorated bags and to the students of Divisions 4 and 14 who collected and organized and packed the candy bags and had the willpower not to eat it all!<\/p>\n DODGEBALL –\u00a0<\/strong>Congratulations to the B-League Benders who won the annual Bruce Grady Memorial Dodgeball Trophy.\u00a0 \u00a0Team members include:\u00a0Blake Young, \u00a0Laina Hyland, Breanne Lind, Marcus Chenard, Nathan Wheeler, Spencer Fowle and Grayson Mudry<\/p>\n BASKETBALL <\/u><\/strong><\/p>\n WINTER ACTIVITIES<\/u><\/strong>\u2013 Grade 4\/5 and6\/7 winter activities start next week.\u00a0 Please make sure you have given permission on the parent portal and paid for your child\u2019s activity of choice.\u00a0 Passes are available for pick up.<\/p>\n KC KIDS\u2019 CHOIR NEWS <\/u>–\u00a0\u00a0 <\/strong>Our January term practices will start up after school on Thursday January 17th<\/sup>. \u00a0\u00a0This year we will be preparing a concert to perform at the ACT with our good friend Rick Scott!\u00a0 (The concert is scheduled for 7 pm at the ACT on Wednesday, March 13th.\u00a0 A notice will go out on the portal this week to sign up.<\/p>\n ENTREPRENEUR FAIR UPDATE <\/u>– <\/strong>Thank you to all our Kanaka families for supporting Divisions 1-4 in the Entrepreneur Fair in December. \u00a0There were so many creative products that left something for everyone. Many students sold out (some even before recess)! Perhaps we will see some of these Young Entrepreneurs in business in the future. As part of our business planning, students selected a charity to donate 10% of their profits to. We are pleased to report that over $300 went to Children\u2019s Hospital and the local Christmas Hamper.<\/p>\n POTENTIAL GR. 7 TRIP TO ONTARIO\/QUEBEC <\/u><\/strong>\u2013 an email went out to families with grade 7 students before the break asking all who were interested to contact Ms. Mah for details.\u00a0 She has sent an email to those parents who expressed interest in a grade 7 trip to Quebec\/Ontario on the April Break.\u00a0 We will need firm commitment from at least 4 students by January 9th<\/sup>to ensure this trip goes ahead.\u00a0 For more details, please email Ms. Mah at Kirsten_mah@sd42.ca<\/a><\/p>\n SASQUATCH MOUNTAIN RESORT PASSES<\/u><\/strong>\u2013 Complimentary passes were donated by Sasquatch Mountain Resort to all our students in Grades 1-7.\u00a0 These passes can be presented at the ticket counter and exchanged for a day pass. \u00a0\u00a0If your child in grade 1-7 did not receive a pass, please check with your child\u2019s teacher as they may be planning a class activity.\u00a0 If you would like more information about the resort visit www.sasquatchmountain.ca<\/a><\/p>\n PANTS NEEDED! <\/u><\/strong>\u00a0– if you have any pants that no longer fit your child, we are always in need of spares in the office.\u00a0 Please consider donating them to the school.\u00a0 Socks will also be accepted.\u00a0 Currently, we have enough shirts.\u00a0 Thanks!<\/p>\n KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION AND REGISTRATION FOR C\u2019USQUNELA ELEMENTARY <\/u><\/strong>Registration for kindergarten and c\u2019usqunela Elementary begins January 2019:<\/p>\n PAC EVENTS:<\/u>\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n\n
