We have already raised over 700 non-perishable food items so, as promised,\u00a0our principal dressed as King Tut last Monday.\u00a0\u00a0Keep bringing in your food items because we\u2019re shaving the letters WE into his beard if we hit 1500!\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Your donations will be given to the Friends in Need Food Bank. This is an opportunity to help members of our community, as well as to raise an awareness about hunger. Please send non-perishable food items to the school with your children or drop them off at the office by October 31st. Thank you for supporting a great cause!<\/p>\n<p><b><u>Hallowe\u2019en Costumes\u2013<\/u><\/b>It\u2019s that time of year again when many of us celebrate Hallowe\u2019en.\u00a0\u00a0Please remember when wearing costumes at school they need to be appropriate for school.\u00a0We have students from five years of age to twelve years of age learning at Kanaka and we want to ensure no one feels uncomfortable or afraid with the costumes we are wearing.\u00a0\u00a0Specifically, please don\u2019t wear full face masks, gore or bring weapons to school.\u00a0\u00a0If you are unsure at all, please don\u2019t hesitate to ask Mr. Raible or Ms. Fuhrmann.<\/p>\n<p><b><u>Halloween Candy Collection<\/u><\/b>&#8211;\u00a0<b><u>\u00a0<\/u><\/b>Once again, Div. 4 (Mr. Moran) and Div. 14 (Mrs. Moran) are collecting candy donations for a few days right after Halloween.\u00a0 The candy donations will be repackaged and gifted out to seniors, the foodbank and to the Addiction Treatment Centre at Christmas.\u00a0 \u00a0If every child brings in a handful, they probably won\u2019t even know its missing, and they can help make someone\u2019s Christmas special.\u00a0 Thank you to all in advance!<\/p>\n<p><b><u>Intermediate Cross Country\u00a0<\/u><\/b>Congratulations to all the Grade 4 \u2013 7\u00a0\u00a0students who participated in the District Cross Country Race at Alouette Lake on Tuesday, October 23. This will help the event run more smoothly.<\/li>\n<li><b>Neufeld Farms and Purdy&#8217;s Holiday Fundraisers<\/b>open on November 1, 2018. All orders are due on November 16th and will be delivered at 2:20pm on November 28, 2018. Please note we do not have storage for the orders so we kindly ask for you to be able to pick up your orders or arrange with someone to pick up on your behalf.\u00a0\u00a0<i>(Neufeld farms is a local company from Abbotsford that provides high quality products\u00a0of frozen food, appetizers, and desserts. These are great for hosting a Christmas dinner, bringing an appetizer or dessert to a gathering of for your family at home to enjoy).<\/i><\/li>\n<li><b>Hot Lunch\u00a0<\/b>\u2013 November 23, Booster Juice\n<ul>\n<li><b>Emergency Kit Donations\u00a0\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0<\/b>With the Great BC Shake Out fresh in our minds, the PAC is evaluating the inventory of our Emergency Kits for students\/staff in the event of a major disaster.
