Creating educational connections for families with pre-schoolers<\/strong><\/p>\n

School District No. 42, working in conjunction with various community agencies, and with financial support from the Government of British Columbia, offers StrongStart Learning Centres at eight elementary schools.<\/p>\n

Programs run Monday to Friday \u2013 see menu\u00a0 for specific times at the various locations. Families are welcome to drop in at whatever time meets their needs. StrongStart Centres follow the regular school calendar.<\/p>\n

What is StrongStart?<\/strong><\/p>\n

StrongStart is a free program for parents with children aged infant to five years old. Parents and caregivers attending StrongStart BC will participate with their children in organized sessions like story time and circle time. They will also be able to participate in free play, arts, early literacy, and information sharing, and will help choose and serve healthy snacks. Parents and caregivers are likely to discover new ways to support their children\u2019s learning at home, and may make valuable connections with others attending the centre.<\/p>\n

What are the benefits of StrongStart?<\/strong><\/p>\n

The benefits of StrongStart include: increasing children\u2019s exposure to literacy and play; providing information about parenting and community resources; providing a fun and healthy learning environment that benefits the whole family; and recognizing parents as their children\u2019s first and most important teacher.<\/p>\n
