As per guidelines of our Safe and Caring Schools\u2019 policy –\u00a0http:\/\/www.sd42.ca\/assets\/media\/Policy-9410-Safe-Caring-and-Healthy-Schools.pdf<\/a><\/h3>\n

It is important to remember, that with Halloween approaching, we need to consider our children\u2019s costume choices.<\/h3>\n

  1. \n

    If students are going to wear a costume, they must wear it to school.\u00a0 Students will not be permitted to change at school. Students must be able to wear their costume inside or outside, at recess\/lunch, at gym, etc.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  2. \n

    No masks or full face painting\u00a0will be allowed; however students can have \u201climited\u201d makeup like whiskers, freckles, eye make-up, etc.\u00a0 We want to be able to recognize the student at all times!<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  3. \n

    Costumes must not be too scary or inappropriate for the school environment. Please, no gory (blood!) or grotesque costumes.\u00a0<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  4. \n

    No props are allowed.\u00a0(No swords, weapons, etc.)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  5. \n

    The school is not responsible for costumes that are torn or damaged while at school.\u00a0Parents are encouraged to remember that students at school can be very physical during recess and gym.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  6. \n

    It often rains in Maple Ridge on Halloween. Don\u2019t forget that students go outside at recess rain or sunshine.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  7. \n

    Students must wear shoes that are appropriate and safe for school.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  8. \n

    Costumes should not interfere with the ability of a student to go to the bathroom by themselves. Costumes should not restrict movement, or take up too much space!<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  9. \n

    Costumes are to be respectful of all cultures and ethnicities<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n
  10. \n

    Nothing violent, offensive or insensitive is ever appropriate.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
