Some of the highlights of the program include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Weekly Field Study Days where students learn outside the regular class setting;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">A classroom of care and discovery that is well supported by staff, parents and community mentors;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Leadership activities that improve confidence, citizenship, and social responsibility; <\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Wheelhouse students are also part of the school district 1-to-1 program, where each student is assigned an iPad for use throughout the school year.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">This option is open to all Maple Ridge \u2013 Pitt Meadows School District students who will be going into grades 6 and 7 in September 2019. Some benefits of this program include:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Development of independence and self-advocacy;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Use of technology to analyze and improve critical thinking skills;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Collaboration with peers both online and face to face;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Flexible scheduling \u2013 individualized daily agenda;<\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">Use of technology to demonstrate learning.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">CyberSchool students are also part of the school district 1-to-1 program in which each student is assigned an iPad for the school year. Students who are currently in Grade 5 are eligible to begin Late French Immersion in September 2019 at Golden Ears Elementary School.
