SUMMARY:Kindergarten Dental Screening
DESCRIPTION:K screening Parent Letter 2022-23 \nThis year your child’s class will take part in a dental health program at your child’s school.  This will be done by Fraser Health public health dental staff as part of a province-wide screening program. \nAs part of this program\, we will look at each child’s teeth. We want to find and help children who have dental problems\, which can affect their learning. The information about your child’s dental check will be recorded in your child’s health record at the Health Unit. The information collected is to support client referral and follow up and to evaluate the dental program by Fraser Health and at a provincial level. \nIf we find any problems with your child’s teeth\, we will let you know. However\, this quick check should not replace regular check-ups by your family dentist. \nWe make sure that this information stays private. We collect\, use and share this information only as allowed by law – the BC Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act. \nIf you do not wish your child to be screened\, please contact us at least one week prior to the screening date at 604-507-5417. If you do not contact us\, we will screen your child. If you do not want the school principal to be informed of the screening results please contact us at 604-507-5417. If you choose not to participate in the screening and/or in the sharing of results\, this will not affect your child receiving other services or in the quality of care provided. \nIf you have any questions about this program\, or about your child’s dental health\, please contact us. \nSincerely\, \nFraser Health Public Health Screener
