This morning, we learned that Fairview Elementary had a break-in over the weekend and that the interior of the building had been vandalized. Unfortunately, the extent of the damage is significant enough that the school will not reopen for in-classroom instruction on Monday<\/strong>. While we don\u2019t yet know the full scope of the work that will be required, we anticipate that the school will remain closed for in-classroom instruction this week.<\/p>\n To provide continuity of instruction for our students, we will be switching to online learning later this week. In the interim, your child can access the first five days of the Remote Learning Fall 2020<\/em> learning activities at https:\/\/gss.sd42.libguides.com\/fairviewlibrary<\/a>.<\/p>\n If you are able to support online learning from home for your child this week,<\/strong> we ask that you email your child\u2019s teacher by 3:00 pm on Monday, November 16, to advise if you will require a district-issued device or if you have technology at home that your child can use. You can find our staff list and email addresses on the school website at https:\/\/elementary.sd42.ca\/fairview\/staff-list\/<\/a>.<\/p>\n Your child\u2019s teacher will be able to provide you with any additional information, including the day and time online instruction will begin.<\/p>\n If you are not able to support online learning from home for your child during this week<\/strong> and urgently require assistance because of this arrangement, please contact either myself (Jennifer_Gallop@sd42.ca<\/a>) or vice principal Nicole McKenzie (Nicole_McKenzie@sd42.ca<\/a>) by noon on Monday, November 16, so that we can discuss options and put supports in place for your family.<\/p>\n I am sorry to have to share this unfortunate news. We will provide you with an update on the timeline for school reopening as soon as we are able to access the school and the district is able to make a full assessment.
