School District 42 is very excited for you to start your learning journey in our Elementary School Communities starting in September 2023.\u00a0\u00a0We care about connecting with you, your child’s learning, your circumstances and your family\u2019s concerns. We are focusing on providing thoughtful, positive, welcoming and supportive transitions for you, our incoming\u00a0K<\/span>indergarten\u00a0students<\/span>\u00a0and their families.<\/p>\n

We invite parents of\u00a0September 2023<\/i>\u00a0K<\/span>indergarten\u00a0students<\/span>\u00a0to join us for a three-part zoom series to share information regarding transitioning your child to\u00a0K<\/span>indergarten. We will chat about different\u00a0k<\/span>indergarten-related topics that will help you to support and encourage your child as they enter\u00a0K<\/span>indergarten. \u00a0Please register here:<\/p>\n

READY, SET,\u00a0K<\/span>INDERGARTEN<\/b><\/p>\n

Ready, Set\u00a0K<\/span>indergarten<\/b>\u00a0is a \u201cway of welcoming\u201d our\u00a0new<\/span>\u00a0K<\/span>indergarten\u00a0students<\/span>\u00a0in May\/June 2023, that allows them to connect to people, to their environment and to playful learning\u00a0<\/b>with a sense of curiosity and joyful anticipation of their future school community. Each child will receive a book and a bag of materials.\u00a0Families will be contacted directly by your principal\/<\/u><\/i><\/b>K<\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b>indergarten teachers via a letter\/email with specific times for your child\u2019s Ready, Set<\/u><\/i><\/b>\u00a0K<\/span><\/u><\/i><\/b>indergarten event. This event usually takes place in late May or June.<\/u><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n

K<\/span>INDERGARTEN GRADUAL ENTRY<\/b><\/p>\n

\n

Gradual Entry\u00a0<\/i><\/b>into\u00a0K<\/span>indergarten provides children with a smoother transition as they make the adjustment into a full day of school.\u00a0K<\/span>indergarten children will be welcomed into their\u00a0new<\/span>\u00a0school at the beginning of\u00a0September\u00a0<\/b>by their classroom teachers in small groups and for shorter periods of time, gradually increasing their time to a full day with the whole class in attendance.\u00a0Students<\/span>\u00a0will have the opportunity to get to\u00a0k<\/span>now their teacher as well as some classmates, classroom routines and meet staff from the school.\u00a0You will be contacted directly by your principal\/<\/u><\/i>K<\/span><\/u><\/i>indergarten teacher via a letter\/email with assigned attendance dates and specific times for your child\u2019s gradual entry for September.<\/u><\/i><\/b><\/p>\n<\/div>\n
