{"id":926,"date":"2019-12-03T15:01:51","date_gmt":"2019-12-03T23:01:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/elementary.sd42.ca\/edithmcdermott\/?p=926"},"modified":"2019-12-03T15:01:51","modified_gmt":"2019-12-03T23:01:51","slug":"the-giving-season","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elementary.sd42.ca\/edithmcdermott\/the-giving-season\/","title":{"rendered":"The Giving Season"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>It is the season of Christmas giving \u2013 thank you for your generousity at Christmas and throughout the entire year!<\/p>\n<p>For those of you looking for donation ideas, we have a few options.<\/p>\n<p>The Giving Tree is in the foyer, there are tags on the tree &#8211;\u00a0 if you wish, please take a tag and purchase the requested gift and submit it to the office.\u00a0 If you choose to wrap the gift, please put the tag on the gift.\u00a0 These gifts will be distributed in hampers to Edith McDermott families.<\/p>\n<p>The Global Citizens global initiative project this year is Education in Kenya.\u00a0 They are now collecting used household batteries; the batteries are counted and will be recycled.\u00a0 Based on these numbers, Free the Children will donate the value of zinc recycled in support of zinc and health programming in Kenya.\u00a0 Zinc deficiency is a major health problem in Kenya and worldwide.<\/p>\n<p>Next week the Global Citizens will be selling beautiful Rafiki beaded necklaces \/ bracelets that are made by women in Kenya. \u00a0They will be holiday wrapped and the cost is $10 \u2013 they are a wonderful gift that keeps on giving!<\/p>\n<p>The local Global Citizen initiatives continue with the collecting of food for hampers and the local food bank.<\/p>\n<p>Thank you again for your consideration and support of these projects.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>It is the season of Christmas giving \u2013 thank you for your generousity at Christmas and throughout the entire year!
