Breakfast Program Supports Learning and Social Skills
Through grants from Breakfast Clubs of Canada, Breakfast For Learning BC and Community Links Funding, Davie Jones is able to offer a universal breakfast program to all of our students. Goals of the program include promoting literacy, leadership, social skills, life skills and healthy eating.
If you would like to contribute financially to enable us to expand the program, please contact Mrs. Beveridge or Miss Shay.
Breakfast Club will start on Tuesday, September 10, 2024
Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
Time: 8:00 – 8:20 a.m.
Where: Front foyer (students will need to leave through the front doors to meet their class at their lineup spot.)
Please e-mail Shay at shay_olenick@sd42.ca to register. Registration is open to Any and All Davie Jones students. Registration is only to ensure there is enough food and so that parents are aware their child(ren) are being provided breakfast.
Breakfast Clubs of Canada is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to providing services and funding to school breakfast programs. They do this with the help of individual and corporate partners, all committed to the cause of feeding our children’s future. Last year, Breakfast Clubs of Canada helped serve over 29 million breakfasts and over 181,000 children in hundreds of school breakfast programs across Canada.
Breakfast For Learning BC was initiated in 2001 to provide direct funding and nutrition education support to start and sustain successful school and community-based breakfast and snack programs for children and youth throughout the province. In their first year, nutrition grants totaling $66,000 were distributed to 45 child nutrition programs serving 2,700 children.
