{"id":3153,"date":"2023-09-26T13:52:37","date_gmt":"2023-09-26T20:52:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/elementary.sd42.ca\/cusqunela\/?p=3153"},"modified":"2023-09-26T13:52:37","modified_gmt":"2023-09-26T20:52:37","slug":"saleema-noons-body-science-workshops-are-coming-to-cusqunela-elementary","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elementary.sd42.ca\/cusqunela\/saleema-noons-body-science-workshops-are-coming-to-cusqunela-elementary\/","title":{"rendered":"Saleema Noon&#8217;s Body Science Workshops are coming to c&#8217;usqunela Elementary"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Saleema Noon\u2019s Body Science Workshops are coming to c\u2019usqunela! <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The parent workshop is\u00a0on Oct. 16<sup>th<\/sup> at 6:30pm via ZOOM and the student sessions are the following days on October 17<sup>th<\/sup>, 18<sup>th<\/sup> and 19<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Our school has been very fortunate to book Saleema Noon for c\u2019usqunela to provide body science workshops for grade 1 to grade 7 students. Saleema is a very well-known provincial expert on how best to talk to kids about their own bodies, puberty, and sexuality. She is in tremendously high demand and thanks to the PAC\u2019s remarkable efforts we were able to book her for our school.<\/p>\n<p>I have personally worked with Saleema and \/ or her team many times in the past and believe her presentations are tremendously valuable for kids. As a principal, and a parent, I support this PAC initiative to have a professional presenter deliver this portion of the provincial curriculum. To give parents an idea of what is discussed with the kids, Saleema offers a Parent workshop before the school presentations. This workshop is also filled with ideas on how you can also talk with your kids at home about this important topic. Using humor and straight talk in an open, interactive environment, Saleema Noon Sexual Health Educators will show you how easy it is to convey healthy, positive messages about sexual health to kids.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0In this workshop parents will learn:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Why we need to talk to children about sexual health at a young age<\/li>\n<li>How to reduce risk of child sexual abuse<\/li>\n<li>What children should know at each stage of development, with specific examples of how to explain concepts and processes<\/li>\n<li>How to become their kids\u2019 preferred source of sexual health information<\/li>\n<li>How to normalize open, honest sexual health conversations in their family<\/li>\n<li>How to effectively answer even the toughest questions kids ask<\/li>\n<li>What will be covered in Body Science workshops for students<\/li>\n<li><strong>This workshop will be delivered via live Zoom!
