What an amazing day! We finally had the logs arrive for our school\u2019s house post which will eventually be carved and mounted at the front of our beautiful school. It is the start of a wonderful project we have been planning for a long time. The logs were delivered today beside the HIVE and the students and staff had a wonderful time welcoming both the carvers and the logs. The log itself is over 600 years old and came from a tree in an old growth forest on Vancouver Island where it had fallen down in a windstorm. It is the oldest log the carvers have ever worked on so they are very excited!<\/p>\n
We were fortunate to have Brandon Gabrielle (Master Carver from Kwantlen First Nation) speak about the project with the kids this afternoon at our school gathering. The first step\u00a0to prepare the logs was to coat them in linseed oil so please don’t get too close as the linseed oil will stain and it’s permanent.<\/strong>\u00a0In the coming weeks staff, students, and visitors will be able to visit the carvers and learn about all the steps that go into creating a house post!<\/p>\n Also, thank you to the many families that helped Katie\u2019s Place Animal Shelter last week. As a school we raised almost $900 and a ton of donated items to support their valuable work!<\/p>\n Lastly, our next<\/strong> PAC treat day will be Frostings CupCakery on May 9th<\/sup><\/strong> with individual boxed gourmet cupcakes.<\/p>\n Ordering will open on April 25th and close on May 2 at 9 PM<\/p>\n We are sorry, but no late orders will be accepted<\/p>\n
