To ensure widespread awareness I wanted to send a quick update out to all families.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Grade 8 Registration<\/strong> begins <strong>online on the Parent Portal<\/strong> in a couple of weeks <strong>beginning at noon on February 4<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>. You should have already received information about this process from the District via the parent portal. Before this date, families should ensure their Parental Portal Account is working and you know how to register. Each registration is time and date stamped and the District\u2019s registration information sheet is attached here again for reference. All information is also posted on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sd42.ca\/student-registration\/\">District\u2019s website (sd42.ca)<\/a>. A confirmation of your child\u2019s high school placement is typically sent to families just before Spring Break. Families wishing to learn more about grade 8 can attend:<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>District Parent Advisory Council general online information night<\/strong><br \/>\nJanuary 28 (7 p.m.)<br \/>\nThe event will be carried live on YouTube:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/3hXdb2h\">https:\/\/bit.ly\/3hXdb2h<\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Learning Services online information night<\/strong><br \/>\nFebruary 2 (7 p.m.)<br \/>\nPreregistration required:\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bit.ly\/2MEpJA0\">https:\/\/bit.ly\/2MEpJA0<\/a><br \/>\n<em>*For parents of Grade 7 students who have support needs (ministry designations &amp; Individual Education Plans)<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Grade Seven Leaving Plans<\/strong> \u2013 The current COVID pandemic, and provincial health orders, have created a very unique year within schools. At this point, no one has a clear picture of what might be permitted within schools with regards to events in June. We will undoubtedly have some form of ceremony and certificates for our grade seven students. We have tentatively selected Friday June 25<sup>th<\/sup> as the date to celebrate their transition to high school. Beyond these initial planning steps however, it is too early to determine what any ceremony or event might look like.
