This past week our students have been learning about notable black Canadians and they have also been spreading Kindness thoughout the school by playing Kindness Bingo and contributing to our school wide kindness chain.<\/p>\n

Head Lice<\/strong><\/span>
\nUnfortunately head lice has made it’s way into our school. We recommend that you check your child\u2019s hair for the presence of head lice, by following the instructions in the Getting Rid of Head lice pamphlet on our school website: https:\/\/elementary.sd42.ca\/albion\/<\/a>\u00a0under the Parent menu.\u00a0\u00a0If you detect head lice on your child, please follow either of the treatment options as described in the Head Lice Treatment pamphlet and notify the school.<\/p>\n

Chemical treatments, hair conditioner and lice combs are available at most drugstores.\u00a0\u00a0It is important that you follow the directions carefully.\u00a0\u00a0Early detections and appropriate treatment will significantly reduce head lice in our school.<\/p>\n

Parent Education
\n<\/strong><\/span>The Ministry of Education and Child Care, in partnership with adolescent clinical psychologist Dr. Hayley Watson from Open Parachute<\/a>, will host three, free virtual sessions for parents, guardians and caregivers that will focus on practical skills you can teach your child and youth (ages 0-19) to prevent substance use and mental health needs. These sessions will build on a previous presentation, which focused on practical conversation tools for speaking about substance use prevention with your children\/youth. The previous session<\/a> is not a pre-requisite for this session.<\/p>\n
