entirty.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Cops for Cancer made a stop at Albion<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong>On Wednesday Albion was honoured to have the Tour de Coast- Cops for Cancer bike team make a quick stop at the school.\u00a0 All funds for this cause go directly to children who are battling cancer.\u00a0 If you have not had a chance to send in a small donation please know that you still can as donations will be accepted up until next Friday.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3093\" height=\"289\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Playground is finished<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>A huge thank you to the Maple Ridge Lions Club, the Maple Ridge\/Pitt Meadows School District and the 2023\/2024 Albion Families for their donations that went towards our primary playground.\u00a0 At the end of August we had 4 decks replaced and on Wednesday the stairs were added so now all of our students are able to access the play structure.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"wp-image-3092 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/wordpress1.blob.core.windows.net\/albion\/2024\/09\/IMG_5204.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"379\" height=\"285\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Upcoming PAC BQ and Open House<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nOn Thursday from 4-6 pm our PAC will be hosting a back to school BQ.\u00a0 There are free hot dogs and families are able to purchase chips and beverages.\u00a0 Classrooms will be open from 5-6 pm so families are able to meet your child&#8217;s 2024\/2025 assigned teacher.\u00a0 If you are able to help out during please contact our PAC at <a underline;\"><strong>Lost and Found<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nWe are only finishing our 3rd week of school and our Lost and Found is almost full.\u00a0 Please stop on by and see if anything looks width=\"297\" height=\"396\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Dirt Bikes\/ATV&#8217;s<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>It has been brought to our attention that there have been some people riding motorized vehicles (dirt bikes and ATV&#8217;s) on school district property after school hours.\u00a0 Please know that this is NOT permitted and if neighbours see this occurring, please reach out to the local RCMP and give them the following file number RMN-18432.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Birthday Celebrations<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nWe know that birthdays are special celebrations however we do need to ask families to not plan any birthday events during school hours (lunch for the class, goodie bags, balloons).\u00a0 Families must also be in contact with the classroom teacher <strong>PRIOR<\/strong> to bringing in any birthday treats eg. cupcakes.\u00a0 Please do not show up the day of with these items without having this prior conversation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Student injuries occurring at school<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span><i>The School District does not pay medical\/dental costs arising from injury sustained by a student while on school grounds or while participating in school activities. Such costs are the responsibility of the parent or guardian. If needed, parents or guardians may purchase coverage from organizations that offer student accident programs. Examples of such vendors include <\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/insuremykids.com\"><span class=\"s2\"><b><i>Insure My Kids <\/i><\/b><\/span><\/a><span class=\"s3\">or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.studyinsuredstudentaccident.com\"><span class=\"s2\"><b><i>Study Insured Student Accident<\/i><\/b><\/span><\/a><i>.<\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>New K to 12 Literacy Supports and Learning Disabilities Webpage<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>As part of the new provincial initiative that was <a href=\"https:\/\/news.gov.bc.ca\/releases\/2024PREM0020-000563\">announced earlier this year<\/a>, the Ministry of Education and Child Care has launched a <a href=\"https:\/\/www2.gov.bc.ca\/gov\/content\/education-training\/k-12\/support\/literacy-supports\">K-12 Literacy Supports web page<\/a>. The web page offers information for school and district staff including a one-page information sheet to support communications with families about the K-12 Literacy Supports initiative, and links to BC Learning Pathways literacy and numeracy resources. You can also find a new \u201cAll About Early Literacy\u201d brochure for parents and caregivers that includes strategies they can use to support learning at home, what to look for, and who to speak to if they have questions or need support (available in multiple languages).<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>National Day for Truth and Reconciliation- September 30th<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>In recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation we invite all students to wear orange all next week.\u00a0 Below is information on a community event office.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Supplies and Planners<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nSchool supplies and planner fees are on the parent portal.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Consent Forms<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nPlease ensure that all consent forms are completed.\u00a0 These forms can be found on the top bar of your parent portal account.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Technology Policy<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nGrade 5\/6 and Grade 6\/7 classes please esure you have your child return the signed Technology Policy to their classroom teacher.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Trading Cards<\/strong><\/span><br \/>\nAs per the parent portal notice that was sent home this week:<br \/>\nIt has come to our attention that there are a variety of trading cards coming to school.\u00a0 Although these cards are enjoyable to collect the sharing and trading of them are causing several problems between students during recess and lunch.\u00a0 It is requested that these card not be brought to school.\u00a0 If they are being used at an afterschool program they must remain in your child&#8217;s backpack while at school.<\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">Morning Games\/Homework Club<\/span><br \/>\n<\/strong>We have started our games and extra help club.\u00a0 This club will run everyday out of\u00a0 the multi-purpose room (MPR) from 8:00-8:25 am.\u00a0 Interested students are to enter the MRP through the doors located in the under covered area.\u00a0 Please note that there are no in and out privileges and at 8:25 am students will be dismissed to go to their line ups.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration:
