It is hard to believe that we are in our final month of school. Please ensure that you check the calendar of events that are occurring for there is\u00a0 a lot happening.\u00a0 The sun is scheduled to show up again later in the week.\u00a0 Please ensure that you child comes to school with a hat, sun screen and a water bottle.\u00a0 If you happen to be around the school please also pop in to check the lost and found as it continues to be over flowing with unclaimed clothing.<\/p>\n

Congratulations to all our Intermediate and Primary students who participated in the district cross country meets that occurred last week.

Bike\/Scooter to School Week is this week!<\/strong>
\nWe are encouraging all students to bike\/scooter to school this week.\u00a0 Each day there will be a draw for students who choose to do so. Students without a lock will be able to put their bikes or scooter in the court yard for the day.
\nStudents are reminded of the following safety precautions:
\n– A helmet must be worn
\n-All bikes and scooters must be walked when on school grounds\"\"
\nA reminder that on Friday we will be hosting a school wide bike parade beginning at 8:45 am.\u00a0 \u00a0All students are encouraged to ride their decorated bike to school on this day and show it off during the parade.<\/p>\n

Spring Carnival- Is this Thursday!<\/strong><\/span>
\nOur Spring Carnival is fast approaching on Thursday, June 6th from 4-8 pm.\u00a0 Our PAC has put in a lot of work to plan this event and they still really need your help as volunteers for the games are needed.<\/p>\n

For every 1 hour volunteer shift parents sign up for their child(ren) will be entered into a draw for 1 of 5 movie tickets.<\/p>\n

Albion School Yearbooks On Sale Now!
\n<\/span><\/strong><\/span>Albion Elementary yearbooks are now available for purchase!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The yearbooks have full colour pictures on 8.5\u201d x 11\u201d paper with a variety of student\/group photos as well as some fun candid shots taken throughout the year.\u00a0<\/span><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The cost is $20 each. Yearbooks will be printed by Photo Expressions. All orders must be\u00a0submitted\u00a0and paid for by\u00a0<\/span>Sunday June 9.\u00a0<\/b>Order now and don’t miss out!<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

2024\/2025 School Calendar
\n<\/strong><\/span>The 2024\/2025 Albion Calendar can be found on this website under the “Calendar” tab.<\/p>\n

School Supplies for 2024-2025
\n<\/strong><\/span>Once again, this September Albion Elementary will continue with the school supply program.\u00a0 A flat fee of $55\u202f<\/span>per child<\/b>\u202f(planner not included) will be charged. This flat fee of $55\u202f<\/span>per child<\/b>\u202fwill cover ALL personal school supplies that each child will need for the school year<\/span>.\u202f<\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This flat fee will ensure that school supplies bought for all students:<\/span>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 -Are the appropriate learning supplies for the grade level.
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 -Are of good quality and will last the year.
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 -Are cost effective.<\/span>
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 -Will eliminate the \u201chassle\u201d factor many families experience struggling to find required supplies.
\n<\/span>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 -Will help to reduce visible inequalities with regards to student socio economic situations by ensuring everyone has the consistent and\u00a0<\/span>comparable
\nlearning materials<\/span><\/p>\n

How will this process work?<\/span>
\n<\/span>Classroom teachers will bulk order the required student school supplies in June. Supplies will be delivered to the school in August and will be ready for use when children arrive in September. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Any families with additional questions about this process, or who are concerned about financial hardship, are encouraged to speak with Mrs. Dailey or their classroom teacher directly for assistance.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Classroom teachers will request school supply money in September once new classrooms have been established.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Class Placements Reminder<\/u><\/strong>
\n<\/u><\/strong>We are beginning to create our classes for next year.\u00a0Please be assured that staff devote considerable time, care, and attention to this process.\u00a0This very complex and lengthy responsibility occurs over several weeks and continues into September when class placements are finalized.
\nThroughout the year, there have been many opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss each child. Staff work together to consider the following criteria very carefully:\u00a0\u00a0social emotional skills and relationships,\u00a0<\/strong>as well as\u00a0learning styles, strengths, and needs.<\/strong>\u00a0Our goal is to create safe and engaging inclusive classrooms that balance these factors, as equitably as possible.
\nIf you feel there is further information to consider about your child, you may submit input to Mrs. Dailey in writing by Friday, June 14.\u00a0Please refrain from requesting specific teachers or peers by name as these submissions will not be reviewed.

BC Summer Games
\n<\/strong><\/span>The BC Summer Games is coming to Maple Ridge and volunteers are needed.\u00a0 Our school will also be used for athlete accommodations.\u00a0 If you are interested in volunteering, all volunteers must sign up through the BC Games Website: https:\/\/bcgames.org\/volunteer\/<\/a> \u00a0and select the accommodations directorate<\/u><\/strong> as their placement. After online registration occurs, you will then be contacted and placed\u00a0 into specific jobs within the Accommodation\u2019s Directorate.<\/p>\n
