{"id":2297,"date":"2023-05-07T10:33:35","date_gmt":"2023-05-07T17:33:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/elementary.sd42.ca\/albion\/?p=2297"},"modified":"2023-05-07T11:10:32","modified_gmt":"2023-05-07T18:10:32","slug":"weekly-memo-may-8-12-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/elementary.sd42.ca\/albion\/weekly-memo-may-8-12-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"Weekly Memo May 8-12, 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear families,<\/p>\n<p>As we are now into May our calendar really begins to fill up!\u00a0 It is important for families to check the week at a glance at the end of this memo.<\/p>\n<p>Some highlights from this past week are\u2026<br \/>\nAll students who are participating in the district Cross Country Event on May 16<sup>th<\/sup> (Intermediate Grades 4-7) and May 17<sup>th<\/sup> (Primary Grades K-3) have been practicing either through running club which has been offered on Mondays and Wednesdays after school or with their class, during the day.\u00a0 If you would like more information on this event, please be sure to speak to your child\u2019s classroom teacher.<\/p>\n<p>Our intermediates have continued to get ready for the school Track and Field event which will occur on Friday, May 26<sup>th<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>Our intermediate talent show is coming up Friday, May 19<sup>th<\/sup> from 1-2 pm.\u00a0 This year we will have 17 students sharing their talents with us.\u00a0 Parents of the presenters are invited to attend this event.<\/p>\n<p>Congratulations to Mrs. Holman\u2019s class who won the Pizza lunch for the most funds raised for our Reading Challenge and to Mr. Tuplin\u2019s class who won a special snack for the most minutes read.<\/p>\n<p>Over the course of the week our weather is gradually going to get warmer.\u00a0 It is important that students begin to wear sunscreen and bring a hat and bring a water bottle to school as classroom teachers will be spending more time outside.\u00a0 Please do ensure that you take time to check our lost and found for items for as the mornings are cooler students often take their jackets off at recess and then unintentionally leave them outside when the bell rings to come in.<\/p>\n<p>As we prepare our Fun Day that is scheduled for Friday, June 23<sup>rd<\/sup> this week we will be offering families the chance to pre-order Crispy Cream Donuts.\u00a0 On Monday, be sure to check your child\u2019s back packs as orders need to be in by May 12<sup>th<\/sup> and delivery is May 18<sup>th<\/sup>.\u00a0 Don\u2019t miss out!<\/p>\n<p>A reminder that on Wednesday, May 10<sup>th<\/sup> \u00a0we have a professional development day so there is no school for students.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Crispy Cream Donuts<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Do you like donuts\u2026 well then this fundraiser is for you!<\/p>\n<p>Help us raise some money for our year end Fun Day by treating your loved ones to melt in your mouth goodness. Boxes are unlimited and only $13.00 each. Order forms will be sent home Monday and need to be returned by Friday May 12. Donuts will be delivered May 18.<\/p>\n<p>All proceeds will go directly to creating a memorable Fun Day experience for our students.<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Class Placements<\/u><\/strong><strong><u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>We are beginning to create our classes for next year.\u00a0Please be assured that staff devote considerable time, care, and attention to this process.\u00a0This very complex and lengthy responsibility occurs over several weeks and continues into September when class placements are finalized.<br \/>\nThroughout the year, there have been many opportunities for parents and teachers to discuss each child. Staff work together to consider the following criteria very carefully:\u00a0\u00a0<strong>social emotional skills and relationships,\u00a0<\/strong>as well as <strong>learning styles, strengths, and needs.<\/strong>\u00a0Our goal is to create safe and engaging inclusive classrooms that balance these factors, as equitably as possible.<br \/>\nIf you feel there is further information to consider about your child, you may submit input to Mrs. Dailey in writing by Friday, May 26, 2023.\u00a0<em>Please refrain from requesting specific teachers or peers by name.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><u>PAC Info:<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>The May 19<sup>th<\/sup> hot lunch order closes SUNDAY, MAY 7<sup>th<\/sup> at 8:00 pm. To order log onto <a href=\"http:\/\/www.munchalunch.com\">munchalunch.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Spring basket orders pick up is Monday, May 8<sup>th<\/sup> beginning at 1:30 pm and will run until 3:00 pm<\/p>\n<p>Muffins for Mom or Special Person Event<br \/>\nWe invite all families to this special event begin held on Friday, May 12<sup>th<\/sup> from 7:30 am-8:20 am in the gym.\u00a0 Muffins, coffee, tea and juice boxes will be served.<\/p>\n<p>AGM Tuesday, June 6<sup>th<\/sup> 6:30 pm<\/p>\n<p><strong><u>Summer Opportunities<br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong><strong>Summer Learning<u><br \/>\n<\/u><\/strong>Families can register through the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/parents.sd42.ca\/\">Parent Portal (https:\/\/parents.sd42.ca)<\/a>\u00a0between noon, Tuesday, April 18 and 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 9. Registrations received after the deadline or once capacity has been reached will be waitlisted.
